Dean guitars made in the USA follow a serial number pattern consisting of a 7 digit number with the first 2 numbers being the year of manufacture, followed by instrument production numbers. The serial number is found on the back of the headstock. Imported Dean guitars do not have year coded serial numbers and have to be dated by configuration and design.

Fender: Corona Corona factory was opened in 1985, Corona California, with major guitar production starting in 1987. With the addition of a custom shop in 1987 the plant currently employs about 700 workers. Apart from general and Custom Shop Fender instruments and amplifiers, it also encompasses Guild acoustic & electric guitars.

It looks like you have 2 humbuckers (how many wires on each?), one 3 way selector and 1 volume and 2 tone controls, plus the output jack. Tell me how many wires on these humbuckers and what colors and I can help you wire it.

With standard color coding of wiring, the clear coated should be the negative ground. However, this is not always a guaranteed bet. If you just want the pickup polarity, use a meter on ohms or continuity and test each wire to the pickup body, presuming the body is metal. The body should be ground. I don't know precisely, but since it is a dual humbucker and only has 1 switch and 2 knos, the knob nearest the neck is probably the volume, and the other is the tone. The switch should select which pickup is in use, towards the neck for the neck or rythym pickup, and the other way for the bridge or lead pickup. If it has a centre click position, that will be both pickups on together. If one of the knobs has a pull position, that will likely be a single coil switch for the lead pickup.

If the wiring is correct on the guitar, try plugging it in to a different amp. If you still don't get any sound, the problem may be a faulty volume or tone potentiometer (or pot. You can get the pots from Musician's Friend, Guitar Center, or any music store that carries guitar parts.

If that doesn't fix it, then the problem is in your pickups. You can get "aftermarket" pickups through the above mentioned dealers, and you're not restricted to the original pickups.

What you replace them with will affect your tone, so do some research before settling on a set of pickups. Active pickups will give you more gain (great for nu-metal and hi-gain applications) and have lower output noise, but they require batteries. Passive pickups have no need for batteries, but tend to produce slightly more noise and hum.

Hopefully, it's the pots. That will be the cheaper fix, since they run about $2-$4USD each. Pickups can range from $100-$500USD a set.
