As far as I know there is no primer or choke on the 675 lawn mower engine. How do you start motor without pulling plug and shooting gas in spark plug hole?

Some mowers have a type of auto choke on them. Some Briggs and Stratton choke themselves when the engine speed is slow, and un-choke when the engine reaches full rpm.

SOURCE: my briggs and stratton 675 lawn mower won't

I am guessing that this is your ENGINE model number: 126K02-0512-B1
Using this reference:
http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=briggs_and_stratton&mn=126K02-0512-B1&dn=35820003
Check to make sure that the choke item number 97 is not sticking.
Then remove the float bowl nut and float bowl assy. Clean the fuel passages in the base of the carb with carb cleaner including the area where the bowl nut screws into. There is a fixed jet orifice that must be cleaned in the threaded area. Also clean the visible brass tubes in the top of the carb.
Check fuel flow with the bowl removed. You should have a good fuel flow with the float angled down and as you lift it level fuel flow should STOP. If you do not have fuel flow... remove the float pin, drop the float and needle and celan out the hole where the float needle was. Remove the main fuel line and check for fuel flow. Use carb cleaner in the hole where the fuel line connects. If you do not have feul flow from the fuel tank.. check the tank port and look for any kind of in line filter. If you find a filter... check the line before and after the filter for fuel flow. Once you have established fuel flow Reassemble carb

Check the spark.... if you have no spark
First check the thermostat by just disconnecting it. Item 291
http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=briggs_and_stratton&mn=126K02-0512-B1&dn=35820004
Then retest your spark. If you have spark with the thermostat disconnected the themostat is bad. (Most engines use a low oil level sensor..... this one uses the thermostat)
There is an electrical contact on the throttle plate that is grounded when the throttle is selected to off. Make sure the throttle plate lever moves off of the contact when you advance the throttle. ALSO... there is another ground / contact on the engine brake. Make sure that when the engine brake is released that the brake lever moves away from the ignition grounding contact.

The above are the basics.... If after doing ALL of the above you still have problems with ignition then suspect the ignition components.

Kelly

SOURCE: I have a Yard Machines/ Briggs & Stratton 675 series 190cc lawn mower. It started this morning then stopped. I replaced the spark plug now the pull/start cord won't pull, what could be the problem.

CHECK THE OIL. If oil level gets too low, the engine may seize due to excessive friction. Check the safety interlock cable for proper operation. Check under the mower for anything that may prevent the blade from turning. If the mower hit something hard like a stump, tree root, or a large stone then check the woodruff key where the flywheel slides onto the crankshaft (there is a notch in both the flywheel and the crankshaft where this key fits). If the notches are misaligned, then the key is sheared. If the key is sheared, remove the flywheel, replace the key, reinstall the flywheel.

Will not prime with primer bulb , can squirt gas in carb and get running then while running you push the primer button it chokes down the engine .

Does it stay running after you squirt fuel in the carb opening? If yes, then there may be a pin hole leak in the hose going from the fuel tank to the primer bulb and it is adding air to your carb.
Thanks

Where is primer on craftsman platinum push mower

It may not have one. Some mowers auto choke using spring tension on the choke plate in the carb. They open the choke when the engine speeds up after starting.

Lawn mower primer button

Mike what i suggest you do is put a small amount of fuel into the block where the spark plug goes. If it doesn't fire after two pull change the plug. Also find the air filter and clean it.

Where is the choke

Many Briggs engine have a primer rather than a choke, the 675 series has a choke that is worked by an air vain, the choke is always closed when the engine is stopped, once the engine starts air pressure from the flywheel pushes the air vain which in turn opens the choke to allow the engine to run normally, there is also a version with a bi thermal switch on the back of the muffler, as the muffler heats up the switch opens the choke.

Lawnmower won't start. There is no primer bulb, supposed to start on first pull

Do you have fresh gas? Make sure the choke on carb is working, maybe drain the gas out of carb and or clean it out, check for spark

SmengesI have a briggs statton 6.75 series Craftman lawn mower 21" cut ,that I cant start. Recently serviced with spark plug, oil and air filter replacement. Brought it home and it the same problem....

I can only go by what you say was done. If you took mower to repairman then it should run. If you took to a buddy who thought he knew, WELL.
Try this first. The primer button is a round button usually BLACK, CLEAR, or RED. Look around your mower and you will find it at the end of the carburator. Carburator is opposite the muffler on your mower. With new gas in your mower ,press the primer button three or four times. Try to start. With all you have done it should start. If it doesn't start, think back and try to remember if you hit something while mowing, if you did then your problem is your timing. With the hit you sheared your timing key. This key keeps your fuel ,compression, and spark happily together to keep your engine running.
Check the other things first and please get back to me, I will be more than happy to help you further. GOOD LUCK.

I have a Craftsman Gold 6.0 mulching mower with a B&S engine on it that has been idle for about 10 years. It was only lightly used before that and I ran the gas tank dry before putting it away. Today...

Sounds like the primer bulb dry rotted from sitting &/or the float is stuck in carb. If gas is indeed leaking from bulb. It will need to be replaced. While it is apart, clean carb inside & out with spray carb cleaner.

I have a Troy Bilt 675 lawn mower, won't start.

is the gas in the tank old? if so, try to drain it and put fresh gas in. Pull the spark plug to make sure it is not fouled and replace it or put in a new one. Check to make sure that you do not have the mixture or choke set to run too rich or too lean. If you are at an altitude above 2,500 feet you need to run more lean to compensate.
