SOURCE: tsr mach3 conditioner

The smell is because of the stuff growing inthe water from the air conditioner. When you run the a/c it keeps the water condensed on the coil. When you turn the a/c off and run just the fan, it allows the water to warm up and start evaporating thus allowing the goodies in the water to become airborn. It would be adviseable to have the unit disassembled and cleaned by a professional due to the obvious danger of mixing water and cleaning chemicals with electrical equipment

SOURCE: coleman tsr rv air conditioner leaks into rv when running

It probably has a clogged condensate drain. Take off the cover on top the RV and check hoses or tubes leaving unit for debris or lint. Often this water is used to help cool the condenser so look for leaves pine needles etc in the pan. There may be a cover you can remove on the evaporator section that will allow you to clean the collection pan and hose or trough. Is it possible the RV is far enough out of level that the condensate can't "run uphill"? Always power off while working on this unit unless you are electric savvy. Good luck!

SOURCE: coleman mach air conditioner in rv tries to start

“The voltage could be low – ”
a) Check the voltage between #1 on the
overload switch and the “R” terminal of the
compressor while it is not humming. This
voltage must be 115 volts domestic USA
models or 240 volts export/overseas models.
No less than minus 10% is allowable.
b) Check the voltage from “C” or “R” of the
compressor while it is humming (trying to
start). The latter reading will probably be
lower, but it still must be 103.5 volts
minimum domestic USA or 216 volts
minimum export/overseas models.
If the first reading is above 103.5V domestic USA and
the second is under 103.5V domestic USA, there is
too much voltage drop in the lines - a situation which
must be corrected for the air conditioner to perform
safely and satisfactorily.
2. “A capacitor could be shorted, weak or open.”
Turn the power off.
Caution – There is always a chance that a capacitor is
holding a residual charge, so before touching a
terminal, discharge the capacitor as explained earlier
in this booklet.
Remove capacitors, visually examine them and test
them per instructions given in earlier section on
capacitor testing (See page 9).
If the capacitors test OK, replace them and carefully
reconnect the wires. Be sure the wires are connected
to the right terminals.
3. “Start relay contacts could be open – ” if so equipped.
Turn off all power, then check for continuity with
ohm meter between terminals 1 & 2.
4. “Compressor start winding could be open or
grounded.”
Check compressor windings per instructions. See the
section on the compressors (See page 8).
5. “Compressor could be mechanically stuck.”
This very rarely occurs and when it does, it is usually
after a lengthy shutdown. This should be considered
only after all the above possible causes have been
positively eliminated. To free a stuck compressor, use
your hermetic analyzer according to the
manufacturers instructions.

SOURCE: i have a 3000 watt generator, will this run the

It should, but what have you got for plug ins on generator? 30 amp, or 15? I believe the rough estimate is 100 watts , equals roughly 1 amp.

I have a Honda eu2000i generator to run a Husky TAW-1524p air compressor. Initial start/run is fine but subsequent compressor restarts as demand for air is required, put the generator into overload....

If your mechanical enough to figure out how to lower the air pressure switch on the compressor it would help with start up loads. For instances if your pressure switch is set for 75 psi. Lower this to 60 psi. or as low as you can and still operate equipment. Otherwise depending what horsepower and voltage {guessing 110 vac) the motor is, I would try an Hard start capacitor for refrigerators or air conditioners. They are rated by horsepower and have a built in relay that kicks it off automatically after starting . You can find these at any appliance or a/c & heating supply house.

Window unit (110) cools for a few minutes then stops cooling just fan air unit is about 6 0r 7 years old

It sounds like your compresssor is shutting off on an overload. After the overload cools down the compressor comes back on until the overload heats up and shuts the compressor off again. The fan keeps running as it is not on the same circuit as your compressor.

Compressor shuts down every 5 minutes or so. filters are clean

Shut down of compressor is triggered by thermostat, or overload protection inside the motor compressor. If there is an ice accumulation sensing/low temperature caused by clogged air flow, the system will shutdown. The air con must have cleaning, or the thermostat is defective. If the shut down is caused by overload protection, there might be a clog on the system tubing or the compressor need replacement. In rare cases the start up device (relay or PCT) may also cause that trouble.

My air conditioner shuts off when it runs for about 5-10 minutes. I wait for a while then I have to roll the fan to start it. Then like I said it only runs for a few minutes then shuts off. The model # is...

The system is either in need of cleaning which is causing thermal overload or it is undercharged and needs to be properly charged to correct the problem

Penguin Duo therm AC bogs

Try replacing the wall thermostat with an electronic unit. It sounds like it is short cycling. If there is not at least 5 min delay before trying to restart the compressor this is what happens. Most electronic thermostats have a delay feature built in to solve this problem.
