It was by chance that there was brush protection is activated an automatic stop when the brush just by chance is too short.
David, I do not believe planer has a fuse or reset, check power cord for damage,melting,breaks, especially at plug and where cord enters body or switch, check switch, check brushes. If you can smell motor and it smells burnt, then motor is quite likely burnt out and will need replaced.
