Rkdian is correct; your saw won't operate properly if done as the others suggest.

  • The filtered hose from the fuel tank connects directly to the carburetor input connection.
  • If the saw is equipped with a primer, the output line from the carburetor connects to the suction side of the primer bulb (once bulb is collapsed it draws fuel from the tank through the carburetor to refill the bulb as the bulb refills).
  • The pressure side of the primer returns any excess fuel to the tank as it is depressed.

Small line runs from the bulb to tank with filter on end. Back of bulb is marked tank carb at each fitting. Run the other line on carb to hole fitting on rt side of the tank.

GAS line diagram for Poulan 2050 Chain saw
The gas line goes from the gas tank to the carburetor and probably passes through the underside of the handle. The correct diameter hose is very important as it is used to form a compression seal with the gas tank using a coupling that connects to the siphon filter with a short length of tubing.

How do ireplace gas filter in poulan 2055 chain saw?
the fuel line rots apart you need to replace the line pull the old hose out take a new hose cut down about a half inch cutting the line to about 1/3 slide a stiff wire down the hole and out the gas cap slide the hose over the wire and slide it back til the cut back end pops out put the filter on the end and pull it into place cut to size and install on the carb

Diagram of fuel lines from tank to primer to carb and back to tank for a poulan 2050 chainsaw.
clip_image002.gifFuel components are onthe "Engine Assembly" & "Handle, Chassis, & BarAssembly" detail pages.
Replacement fuel lines can be found at yourlocal chainsaw seller/mechanic. They are different diameters.

Fuel Line Replacement
  • The hose in the tank with the filter on the free end connects directly to the carburetor input connection.
  • If the saw is equipped with a primer bulb, the output line from the carburetor connects to the suction side of the primer (once the bulb is collapsed it draws fuel from the tank through the carburetor to refill the bulb as it inflates).
  • The pressure side of the primer returns displaced fuel to the tank as it is depressed.

I have an 18" Poulan chain saw, 25th Anniversary
Yes there is.If you can get the broken pieces out of the tank.there should be a filter on one of the broken lines.you will have too buy some gas line 3/16.take some wd-40 and spray the line.this makes it easier to slide through the hole in tank.then loop it around to gas cap hole and reinstall filter.then make sure filter is at bottom of tank and hook back to carb.

Your fuel lines are routed like the schematic below. I suggest you replace the filter, all hoses (2 different sizes), and the purge button (bleeder).
