Why are there vertical Lines on display (Left Side)?

I have vertical lines going down the left side of tv set about 2-3" wide. They are not there 100% of the time but i would say they show up about 90% of the time it is on. Any ideas what might be the problem?

How to Troubleshoot Vertical Lines on an LCD TV Screen

<p>There are two prevalent formats for video programming: full screen and wide screen. LCD TVs are designed to show a wide screen picture to go with high-definition (HD) programming. When standard-definition (SD) programming is watched on an LCD HDTV in its default settings mode, there will be two vertical lines on the right and left sides of the picture. You need to go into your TV settings menu to troubleshoot this issue.<br /> jQuery('.intro .thumbnail').each(function(i,e){ jQuery(e).find('img').one('error',function(){ jQuery(e).remove(); }); }); <span><br /></span> <span>Instructions</span> <ol> <li> 1 Press the "Menu" button on your remote control and open the "Picture Settings" sub-menu.<br /> </li> <li> 2 Select "View" from the list of options.<br /> </li> <li> 3 Choose a viewing mode that will eliminate the vertical lines. Select "Zoom" to crop the on-screen image to fit the screen. Select "Wide/Widescreen" to stretch the on-screen image to fit the screen, or select "Panoramic/Panorama" to stretch the sides of the onscreen image to fit the screen (recommended).<br /> </li></ol>

Two vertical black lines on the screen of my ps50b430

Unless someone played with the TV and disconnected the plasma display from the address buffer boards that go under the screen the prospects aren't good.

All vertical lines in all plasma TVs I have seen are operated by chips embedded in the fabric of the display as well.

When they fail they'd either short or burn open.

In the first case they'd prevent the TV from coming up, in the second they'd typically manifest as either black or a random color vertical line like you have.

This is not repairable...sorry.

The odds of this being something else is fairly minimal in my opinion.

Panasonic Viera TH-42PV60H displays vertical lines on left side of screen.\r\nThese lines flickers and changes colors. Initially was about 2cm wide and now it is about 4cm.

Either LCD transistor got moist or the video chipset got condensation. Keep TV on standby to dry it out. Unless there is also mechanical damage to the lcd screen on the edge..
