SOURCE: Unable to Connect to WI-FI with my Samsung Galaxy

I just had this same problem - I suspect it may have been a new app I installed that changed some settings.
I fixed mine by going into Settings>Mobile Network settings, then tick "Use packet data". Worth a try.

Network security key
Some later model wireless routers have the Password (ie.Encryption key) and the SSID already configured in the wireless router and this information is printed on a label on the bottom of the router.
These settings can be used to configure the wireless card and wireless adapters in your computer/laptop.
If these settings do not suit you, then it can be changed to suit your requirements.
The encryption key secures your data and wireless connection from unauthorized access. To configure the wireless settings in the router, connect a LAN cable from your computer to the wireless router, then open a Browser on your computer and enter the router's configuration IP address, then enter the admin login and password and then go to the wireless settings and configure the SSID and Encryption key.
The router's encryption key can be a Passphrase or the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key.If you use the Passphrase method select either WEP or WPA or WPA2 to generate the encryption key. You can enter the WEP or WPA or WPA2 key with 8 to 63 ASCII characters or 64 Hex digits.
Most people use Passphrase which is easier to remember eg. I was born in January 1988.
The strongest and latest security is WPA2, the weakest and oldest is WEP. To connect to your wireless router from the computer/laptop, configure the wireless card in your computer/laptop with the router's wireless settings ie SSID, plus the WPA or WPA2 encryption key. Then computer/laptops can communicate with your wireless router. http://www.fixya.com/support/r10267861-network_security_key

How to set up internet on Samsung Jet

Ensure that you have the appropriate network key code needed to enable you to access a secure Wi-Fi network.

If you are connecting to a secure Wi-Fi network with MAC address restrictions, you will require pre-authorisation for the router. You will need to find your Samsung Jet's MAC (Media Access Control) address. This is a 12-character code which may be needed by the network controller to enable the phone to connect. See Getting the Samsung Jet's MAC address below.

You can get to the Wi-Fi application either via the main menu or using a homescreen Wi-Fi Widget.
  1. To get to the Wi-Fi application via the main menu, press the MENU button (either on the home screen or the hexagonal button beneath)
  2. In the main menu, swipe your finger sideways to go through the menu pages until you see the Wi-Fi icon. Press to select.
  3. The Wi-Fi application opens.
  4. Alternatively, to use the Wi-Fi Widget, from standby, press the home screen. The Widget toolbar opens up.
  5. Scroll down to find the Wi-Fi Widget icon. Press the Wi-Fi Widget. The Wi-Fi Widget will pop up on the main screen.
  6. Press the Wi-Fi Widget on the main part of the display to launch the Wi-Fi application. The Wi-Fi application opens.
  7. Once in the Wi-Fi screen, press the large Wi-Fi button in the middle of the screen to turn it on. Wi-Fi is activated and the button turns blue.
  8. Press SEARCH Nearby Wi-Fi access points (APs) will appear as small circles on the display, with their names next to them.
  9. Press the circle representing the Wi-Fi Netowrk you want to connect to. An options panel appears.
  10. You can press CONNECT to connect to the network or press ADD if you want to add it to a list of preferred networks for easy access later.
  11. You are taken into a settings menu for the Wi-Fi access point. If the Wi-Fi access point requires a network key code, scroll down to the Network Key panel. Press to select.
  12. The numberpad appears. Type in the network key code and press DONE. You are returned to the previous settings screen. Press SAVE
  13. A list of connections appears. Press the back arrow button
  14. If you initially pressed CONNECT, the phone will connect to the selected Wi-Fi network and a confirmation message will appear. The display now shows the new connection, illustrated by blue dots linking the circles onscreen (Figure 15).
  15. If you initially pressed ADD, you will be returned to the Wi-Fi screen. Press the circle representing the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to. A pop up panel appears.
  16. Press CONNECT. You will be connected and the connection illustrated onscreen.
Press the back button to return to the home screen.

  1. From the home screen press MENU to enter the main menu (Figure 1).
  2. In the main menu, press INTERNET
  3. Choose which browser option you want (Home, Enter URL, Bookmarks, etc.) (Figure 18) and press to select. If you press Home you will be taken to the pre-loaded home page.
  4. If required, use the numberpad to type in an URL or scroll a list to select bookmarks. When an URL is completed press GO. Alternatively press the bookmark you wish to access. You will taken to the web page requested.

  1. Activate Wi-Fi and press SEARCH, as before.
  2. When the Wi-Fi access point you want to connect to appears on the display (Figure 8), press it to select.
  3. A pop up options panel appears (Figure 9). Press DETAILS
  4. Details of the Wi-Fi access point appear onscreen.
  5. Scroll down by dragging your finger up the screen. Towards the bottom of the settings list, DEVICE MAC appears, with a string of 12 charactesr beneath (Figure 21). Each handset has an individual MAC address, and this panel will display your Samsung Jet's unique Mac address.
Make a note of the MAC address. You will need it if you want to use the Samsung Jet's Wi-Fi to access a secure Wi-Fi network using MAC address restrictions. This can be added into the wireless router settings access list.

HOW TO CHANGE THE INTERNET SETTINGS IN THE HTC WILDFIRE A3333

Wi-Fi provides wireless Internet access over distances of up to 100 meters (00 feet).

To use Wi-Fi on your phone, you need access to a wireless access point or "hotspot". The availability
and range of the Wi-Fi signal depends on the number, infrastructure, and other objects
through which the signal passes.

Turning Wi-Fi on and connecting to a wireless network
From the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless & networks.
Select the Wi-Fi check box to turn Wi-Fi on. The phone then scans for available wireless
networks.

Tap Wi-Fi settings. The network names and security settings of detected Wi-Fi networks
are displayed in the Wi-Fi networks section.
If the wireless network you want to connect to is not in the list of detected networks,
scroll down the screen, and then tap Add Wi-Fi network. Enter the wireless network
settings, and then tap Save.

Tap the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
If you selected an open network, you will be automatically connected to the network.
If you selected a network that is secured with WEP, enter the key and then tap
Connect.

Depending on the network type and its security settings, you may also need to enter more information
or choose a security certificate.
When your phone is connected to a wireless network, the Wi-Fi icon appears in the
status bar and tells you the approximate signal strength (number of bands that light up).
The next time your phone connects to a previously accessed secured wireless network, you
will not be prompted to enter the key or other security information again, unless you reset
your phone to its factory default settings.

Wifi saying unable to scan networks

Hello!
Here are the things you can try for a malfunctioing Wi-Fi on your Galaxy S:
Try turning off your Wi-Fi then turn it on again.
  • Sometimes, this works for me as the Wi-Fi might need a restart so it can try scanning again. You can do so by going to Settings > Wireless and Network > Wi-Fi Settings and ticking the Wi-Fi checkbox.
Turn off your handset then turn it on again.
  • An app that was running on your handset might be messing with your Wi-Fi, so to make all things better, you can restart your handset for a fresh boot. :)
Check if there are actually Wi-Fi networks in your area or the Wi-Fi is too weak.
  • If there aren't any Wi-Fi networks to detect, it can't do anything at all in the first place. Try moving to an area with better Wi-Fi signal.

You can ask me if you have any queries! :) ~azukibean70

Hoe can i connect my ipone to wiifi on my belkin router

Wi-Fi settings determine whether iPhone uses local Wi-Fi networks to connect to the Internet.
Turn Wi-Fi on: Choose Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on.
Join a Wi-Fi network: Choose Wi-Fi, wait a moment as iPhone detects networks in range, then select a network. If necessary, enter a password and tap Join (networks that require a password appear with a lock icon).
Once you join a Wi-Fi network manually, iPhone automatically joins it whenever the network is in range. If more than one previously used network is in range, iPhone joins the one last used. When iPhone is joined to a Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi icon in the status bar at the top of the screen shows signal strength. The more bars you see, the stronger the signal. Set iPhone to ask if you want to join a new network: Choose Wi-Fi and turn "Ask to Join Networks" on or off. Join a closed Wi-Fi network: To join a Wi-Fi network that isn't shown in the list of scanned networks, choose Wi-Fi > Other, then enter the network name. If the network requires a password, tap Security, tap the type of security the network uses, and enter the password. You must already know the network name, password, and security type to connect to a closed network. Some Wi-Fi networks may require you to enter or adjust additional settings, such as a client ID or static IP address. You can type it manually by login onto the Belkin's network page using the browser and by copying the static and dynamic IP address.

Wi-Fi Functionality
  1. Connects over the last Wi-Fi network you used that's available.
  2. If no Wi-Fi networks you've used are available, iPod touch will scan for Wi-Fi networks and show a list of Wi-Fi networks in range. Tap a network and, if necessary, enter the password to join. Networks that require a password show a lock icon (307189_1.jpg) next to them.
  3. Option to manually enter your Wi-Fi network name/SSID (if the Wi-Fi network is configured not to broadcast or be displayed to the public). If necessary, enter the password to join.
When iPod touch is connected to a Wi-Fi network, the Wi-Fi icon (307189_2.jpg) in the status bar at the top of the screen shows connection strength. The more bars you see, the stronger the connection.
Wi-Fi Settings
  1. Turn Wi-Fi on or off.
Choose Settings > Wi-Fi and turn Wi-Fi on or off.
  2. Set iPod touch to ask if you want to join a new Wi-Fi network.
When you are trying to access the Internet, by using Safari or YouTube for example, and you are not in range of a Wi-Fi network you have previously used, this option tells iPod touch to look for another network. iPod touch will display a list of all available Wi-Fi networks that you can choose from. Networks that require a password appear with a lock icon (307189_1.jpg).

If "Ask to Join Networks" is turned off, you must manually join a network to connect to the Internet when a previously used network is unavailable.

Choose Wi-Fi and turn "Ask to Join Networks" on or off. If you turn "Ask to Join Networks" off, you must join new networks manually.
  3. Join a Wi-Fi network manually.
Choose Wi-Fi, wait a moment as iPod touch detects networks in range, then choose a network. If necessary, enter a password and tap Join. Networks that require a password appear with a lock icon.
  4. Make iPod touch forget a network, so that the device doesn't join it automatically. Choose Wi-Fi and tap the arrow (307189_3.jpg) next to a network you've joined before. Then tap "Forget this Network."
  5. Connect to a closed Wi-Fi network (an available Wi-Fi network that isn't shown in the list of scanned networks).
Choose Wi-Fi, then tap Other and enter the network name. If the network requires a password, choose Security, tap the type of security the network uses, and enter the password. You must already know the network name, password, and security type to connect to a closed network. Some Wi-Fi networks may require you to enter or adjust additional settings, such as a client ID or static IP address. Ask the network administrator which settings to use.
  6. Adjust settings to connect to a Wi-Fi network
Choose Wi-Fi, then tap the arrow (307189_3.jpg) next to a network.
