If it is a top loader machine with an agitator that stands up in the center of the tub, try removing the dispenser and lint trap from the center ( normally just a pull up) and right down the bottom there is a 10 or 12 mm bolt that you undo and that allows you to pull the agitator up off the drive shaft
talk with a service agent as to how to get the agitator out or down load a workshop manual from google by typing in --workshop manual for hoover model 201m washing machine -- and if there is a pdf version then down load it

SOURCE: Clothing stuck on agitator with top loading washing machine

Dear Whitworth,

please rate this solution if it meets ur needs, else choose fixya...

The agitator's movement back and forth is important for the cleaning of your laundry. If it doesn't function properly, your clothes won't be as clean as possible. If your agitator does not move, moves only in one direction or its movement is very weak, you will probably need to remove the agitator. Furthermore, in order to inspect the tub for leaks, the clutch assembly, the splines, or to remove the spin drum, you will have to remove the agitator.

The agitator is fastened to the agitator shaft and its movement is driven either by splines or a simple clutch assembly. The splines are usually plastic or rubber nubs on a cylinder that fits over the agitator shaft. If the nubs wear down, the shaft will not turn properly or it will turn weakly. If the agitator is moving in only one direction, the likely cause is the clutch assembly. The clutch has dogs that depress and pop up with each turn. If those dogs are worn, they will not engage properly and the agitator will turn only in one direction.
Various makes and models differ in how the agitator is removed. In some newer models, the agitator just lifts straight up and out. However, in most models you will have to do some combination of the following steps. First remove the fabric softener dispenser, if any. It should either lift or screw off. Next remove the cap. It may lift off, screw off or failing that, it may need to be pried off.
Beneath the cap some agitators are secured in place by a bolt. Use a socket wrench with an extension to remove that bolt. Some Maytags may have a screw near to the bottom of the agitator post that must be removed. Now try to lift the agitator straight up, possibly with a little back and forth rocking motion. Use caution when pulling, the agitator may come loose suddenly and hit you in the face or send you flying backward.
If the agitator is particularly stubborn, you can loop some rope under one side of the agitator at the bottom and then up over a broom handle. Now loop it again under the other side of the agitator and back up to the broom. Brace one end of the broom handle against the top of the washer and lift up on the other end. Double check that you have removed anything that may be securing the agitator in place. Do not use too much force or you may damage the washer cabinet, agitator or injure yourself.

SOURCE: Cloth stuck under agitator in washing machine.

there is a bolt under the fabric softner dispenser (if you have one) if not, its a plastic cap on the top of your agitator which pops off by hand or a butter knife.. then there is a bolt under there that holds the unit down..grap the bottom of your agitator and loosen the bolt and remove it...then lift up carefully on the whole thing..careful not to loose the seal and bolt to put the agitator back in place....good luck..

SOURCE: I need to remove the agitator from my washing machine.

On most Amana washers you pull on the agitator with brute force. It "snaps" on. It helps if you fill the washer with hot water and let it set for a few minutes... drain and then try pulling it out. When i last took apart my Amana it took me and a friend to pull the agitator off.

SOURCE: Need wiring schematics for Hoover 750L washing

www.washerhelp.co.uk/diy-repair-help_3.html
These sites above will help; Yo get a Schematic, you need a service manual, I was unable to find one for your model.
http://appliancejunk.com/forums/index.php?topic=2846.0
This link above, has "Generic" manuals, download one of them, you will find a schematic diagram, of a generic, circuit, they are all pretty much the same, in the add on's to the "Control Board" It will be helpful in tracking any faults, also inside the manual is troubleshooting tips, that apply to ALL, they will help you narrow it down.

Always check, hoses, pump, filters.
might be your drain pipe is too far down the drain tube, take out your pump and clean it.
Check the pump the spade connections , might be a bit loose.
This COULD be a clutch problem. Pads sound like they are gone. If its over 5 years old it will be better to replace. And throw-out bearing in a washer? there is tub and clutch shaft bearings; but it takes quite a bit of experience and tools to change.
good luck and consider shopping around. It is always best to get an Engineer.

IWL16 mildew or black specks on clothers

could just need a good clean. these machines remove dirt from clothes very well, but it can build up on the inside of the outer. disconnect power, remove top (two screws under covers under lid), remove top bowl ring (8 clips) remove agitator (1 screw deep inside) remove inner bowl. scrub it. also trying a hot wash with some cleaning product to flush the machine every couple months can stop this happening in the future.

Smelly clothes and washer

Washer smells foul...this is often a build up of soap, water, too many chemicals and this has left a residue, and the mildew moves right in and it stinks. This builds up is often on the inside of the outer tank.
Many times that this happens is when people use to much soap and then they only do laundry once a week.
One good solution to help your odor problem...it works well...in a top loader I recommend 2 cups of cascade and 2 cups of bleach, fill your machine with hot water and let it agitate. At the end of the agitation/wash cycle, let the machine sit and soak for about 10-15 minutes to work on your scum, then close the lid and let it complete. Next load run whites to be safe all bleach is out. This should help.
On some really bad odor problems, you may have to remove the inner basket to scrap off the build up from the inside of the outer tank. You may will need special tools to remove the inner basket.
Fabric softener is also nasty for building up inside and under the agitator.
It is recommended to use half to a quarter of the detergent that the package recommends.
Other things that may help, leave the washer lid open between laundry days. Never cover your washing machine with those plastic covers.
