If the water has not completely emptied, this wont allow the door to open. Check by lowering the outlet hose into a bowl. If a fair amount of water comes the problem is likely to be a pump blockage

The following link explains how to unlock the control panel on a Whirlpool Duet:

This is a designed safety feature of the washer that allows the consumer to lock the control panel to prevent small children from manipulating the controls. It can be inadvertently locked by leaning on the control panel, or during power outages. The instructions are printed on the front panel of the washer and are included in the owner's manual.
If these steps do not provide you with a solution, you may have a more serious problem than a simple operator intervention. Please let me know if you require additional assistance. I hope this helps you.
SOURCE: to fix the control lock you hold down the control
Holding down the control lock button for 30 seconds did NOT work for me.
I went straight to Whirlpool.com and found that if you Hold down the
END OF CYCLE button for 3 seconds, the control lock turns off and the
washing machine is again operable
