There is valve at the back of the ice maker unit. This valve is the one unit with twin inlet. From one inlet the water enters the ice maker and from other inlet the water enters the water dispenser.so in that valve the ice maker side is working but water dispenser side is not working.Or the ice is got clogged/ over frosted in the water dispenser entering pipe.either the valve needs top be replaced or the water dispenser pipe needs to be checked.Calling service person is advisable. He will just check and confirm what is the issue, the water valve or the over frost build up in the water dispenser tube.and do as required to solve the issue/.If case if the water valve needs to be replaced then cost of water valve is approx $40.-------------
this will help.Thanks.Helpmech.
OK, that should be no problem. Test your ice maker and fill with water if empty of ice. If full of ice and not moving to dump tell me. I need to help you locate the problem doing that and answering will tell me the problem. Also look around the door frame and inside for the model Profile that you have. and get back with me as soon as possible, Thanks Sea Breeze
A lot of filters ( not all ) do not even access the ice maker . Only the water dispensor . If your water dispensor is working fine , then you need to replace the dual water inlet valve behind the refrig . This is the piece the wall water line connects to . It is called a dual valve because there are 2 coils on the valve . 1 for the ice maker and 1 for the water dispensor .
Every time you use the ice dispensor , when the flap opens , cold air will fall inside the enclosed dispensor cover . This cold air , mixed with the warm outside air , produces moisture inside the cover . After so long , this moisture starts turning to rust , causing the solenoid and plunger to rust . G E has no "fix" for this problem yet . My suggestion , would be to drill holes in the bottom of the dispensor enclosure (white plastic enclosure , held on by 4 screws ) at certain points , so that the cold air will fall thru the cover , instead of staying in the enclosure . This is something I have to try on customers refrigerators for a while , before I send this Idea to G E . To answer your question , yes , I is normal to replace every couple of years ,.....for now anyway .
Sounds like your saying that the ice dispensor flap is not closing completely which will cause frost on the inside shoot and on the ice bucket . Could be because of a broken guide ( clear plastic piece attached to the ice dispensor arm ) . Need brand and model number to help .
