Was mowing just like any other day, and the mower just stopped moving. Did not hit anything. Runs perfect and the blades run perfect. It is a Craftsman LT 1000 automatic.
If this is a manual transmission, check the drive belt from the engine back to the transmission. With the clutch pedal up (engaged) there should be no slack in the belt.
If it is a hydrostatic drive, check the drive belt and make sure it is tight. Check the transmission fluid level and make sure it is full. Refer to your owners manual as it will describe the fluid check proceedure.
Good luck, let me know.
Regards,
This problem,is usually the ground drive belt has stretched to a point that it is slipping or broken. There is no belt adjustments,to tighten the belt. You will have to replace the belt. Check to see if this the problem. I hope this information helps.Sincerely,Brad LockeThis problem,is usually the ground drive belt has stretched to a point that it is slipping or broken. Is the tractor moving slow or are the blades moving slowly? The belt on the mower blades may be slipping. If the tractor is moving slowly look to see if the transmission needs fluid.
To engage the blades is it a knob to an electric switch that you pull?
If so does the wire from the switch activate a electric clutch?
Is the wire damaged and shorted to the frame, is the clutch shorted. If you provide the brand name and model number I might be able to find a schematic for your mower.
you could have bent the blade or the crank look at the blade then remove the blade mount and spark plug turn on its side and turn the engine over and look for crankshaft runout
mtd 1993 riding mower model 828 I was mowing then tractor stopped and wont go forward or backward It runs fine, and blades seem fine. Drive belt looks fine.
