I have an Invacare Pronto M51 powerchair with a fully charged battery. When I turn it on and attempt to drive, it will not engage and will not move. I have checked the fuses, but they look to be ok.

The fuses will look black or burnt, correct? And what is the control switch?

Control switch is like your gear stick for moving back or forwardd fuses may not looked burnt but could be faulty

Thanks so much for your help! We think we have narrowed the problem down to the joystick. The boot around it has worn down and dirt has gotten down inside. How can we take off the joystick (we've already taken off the 4 screws) so we can clean it?

Someone gave me a pronto m51 sure step motorized wheelchair but no manual was given..my question is: Is it safe to charge the battery overnight? Is there any danger of overcharging? If anyone knows for...

Jo, nope you are safe. Most of the chargers are designed to cut off and go into trickle charge once they sense that the batteries are fully charged. The problem with overcharging comes after 18 hours or so. You should never leave the charger plugged into the chair for more than 24 hours. On the M51 the charger is built into the chair so just plug it in when you go to bed and unplug it when you get up and you'll be ok. You can check for full charge by looking at the charger there should be a red light and a green light when fully charged. Hope this helps

Invacare pronto m51 moving very slow. moves free and easy when in neutral

Check that the speed control on your joystick is set to high. If it is then you probably have a battery problem. Even with all the lights lit on the joystick you can have one battery of the two on the chair that is not charging fully. This will cause the M51 to creep and not work correctly

How do i know when my invacare pronto m5 is fully charged?

With an M51, a full charge will be indicated by all three joystick indicator lights lit- red yellow green. The green far right LED is the full charge light. Also the charger has indicator lights that go from red/yellow to full green at full charge. Hope this helps

How do I charge My Pronto M51 motorized wheelchair?

Margie,   Yes you may charge it overnight. If you use it everyday, charge it every night. Once the charger senses 24 volts it stops sending a charge,so they cannot be overcharged.  I suggest when you go to bed put on the charger and unplug it when you get up in the morning.
