My husband is trying to repair my sister's LG front loading washer to save her some money. It's getting the 'te' thermistor error code, so although we read the error is most often due to faulty or loose wiring, since a new thermistor was under $6, I ordered a new one, just in case. So, he went to her house, ready to check the wiring (and replace the thermistor, if needed), BUT he said the old thermistor was just there with no wire harness (or any type of wires) attached to it. (I don't know much about it, but the metal bar on the thermistor was anchored into a rubber piece and it was just hanging freely.) Figuring that the wire harness shook loose because of vibration or whatever, he looked everywhere possible on the inside of the machine, and was shocked to find absolutely no wires (or wire harness) anywhere that would connect to the thermistor. Has anyone ever heard of this happening? I've searched and searched the internet and found only one other person who mentioned seeing no wires/wiring harness to connect to the thermistor and asking about it, but no one every responded to their post, and it was a post from several years ago. My husband isn't an appliance repair tech or an electrician, but he's been a maintenance tech/supervisor in the restaurant and commercial property industries for over 30 years and has a great deal of experience with all types of electrical and appliance repair (along with every tool/meter imaginable.) I've never known him to be stumped like this, so any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated! He really wants to save my sister the expensive service call. Thanks!

I can give you THIS maybe that will help you . Service manual for your machine
SOURCE: GE Washing Machine Replacement Motor - Capacitor? Relay? Schematic?
The new units have all of your schematics, capacitor and a higher price for a reason. With GE I avoid used parts because there is so much electronics you don't want to fry. The wire harness leads match the old and there should not be an extra wire, were would it go if there is not a receptacle for it?
I looked up your unit and the motor replacement is WH20X10009 for the model you quoted. As of now GE is has updated this to model wh20x10006 for around 263 dollars.

You will need to replace the tub rear shell/bearing assembly (part # 131525500).
To do this, practically the whole machine will need to come apart.
To remove the drive pulley, remove rear cabinet panel. Remove the pulley screw and pull back on the pulley (you may need to giggle it as you pull to remove it).
For the shock pins, grab the open end with a pair of vise-grips. On the "pointy" side of the pin press the tab in with your finger (if you can't push the tab in slide a 9/16" socket onto it) and pull the pin out with the vise-grips (twist back and forth slightly as you pull).
A qualified tech could replace the rear shell/bearing in about 1.5 - 2 hrs. I can certainly give you more help if you need it, let me know.
Good luck!

Try pressing spin speed and soild level at the same time. Is the temperature about 10 degrees C over the the selected temperature? If no, then try replacing the main board.
Also make sure the thermister isn't loose. That could cause your problem.
If the main board doesn't fix it, then you have to replace the heater assembly.
Im actually looking the the service manual your unit as we speak.

To be more specific, unplug unit. Behind the machine are two plastic kick plates, remove to slide off the top. Once off, two top self tap metal screws and one screw behind panel wall, remove. Remove two detergent screws. Lift electrical panel and set on top of machine. Remove four top screws. Bottom drain has one screw in front, take out plastic cover and one screw in back. Take off rubber by opening door. With a screw driver, prey and lift up the brass spring ring and remove. Then the front panel should slide up and out. Be careful because electric wire is still connected, move to the side of unit. You will then be able to find the thermostat. Unplug and replace, you will need to use the same rubber bushing. Took me an hour, I’m not an appliance repair guy.
