What is the make and model? I had a similar problem with my LG side-by-side. Found the whole icemaker part online for less than $50us and it took under 5 minutes to swap out with jsut a phillips head screw driver.

Ice maker is not making ice, but is running

Ice makers run themselves almost independently from any other functions in a refrigerator. Your ice maker maybe bad or water supply solenoid valve has probably failed. Check the continuity of the solenoid valve and test it. Once continuity is established, disconnect the supply line to the ice maker and energize the valve with the water line open. Make sure you use a container to catch the water. If water comes out while it is energized, the valve is good and you to focus on the ice maker. Check and make sure and check all wiring before making a hasty decision to replace it. If it is does not make ice, just replace it.

Water dispenser on front of refrigerator door does not dispense water. Ice Cube maker continues to make ice cubes. Defrosting doesn't fix problem.

Water dispensing solenoid is bad. You need to replace the solenoid valve. This typically is independent of the ice maker.

Crosley side by side ice maker makes to much ice !!!!!!

Most ice makers have a wire bar that senses when the ice bucket is full. The bar lifts up when new ice is made. The ice maker determines if the ice bucket is full by lowering the bar back down after the ice drops into the bucket. If the bar hits the ice cubes in a full bucket, the ice maker shuts off. If the bar drops all the way and dosen't touch ice cube, the ice maker continues making ice until the bucket is full.

So you likely have one of the following problems:
1) The wire bar is missing or bent. Check to make sure that when the bar is pushed up, the ice maker stops making ice. Most bars will 'click' into the up position so you can shut the ice maker off. Push the bar up until it clicks into the up position and wait overnight to see if it makes more ice. If there is no wire bar over the ice bucket, that is your problem.

2) The switch the wire bar is connected to is malfunctioning. If you push the wire bar up and the ice maker continues to make ice, this is likely your problem. You will need a new ice maker unit. Try Appliance Parts Pros or EBay for a new unit.

Ice Maker water keeps running

Bad I/M, won't shut off after harvest and continues to restart cycle. Heater in I/M should warm up thermostat after first harvest and stop unit from recycling.
