- pressing on the accelerator just makes the RPMs go up, check engine light starts flashing, and after a while as the car VERY slowly accelerates, things go back to normal. Mechanic has alreasy replaced spark plugs, cleaned all the filters, replaced trans filters, checked all the contact points, the mechanic has checked everything except thew Mass Air Flow (which according to the mechanic this should not be affecting the engine this way). Anyone else have this issue? How did you solve it?
Sounds like a fuel restriction problem. Start with fuel filter, then fuel lines-rusted/hole in line-SUCKING air or fuel pump on the fritz!
Testimonial: "Thank you Frank but fuel filter has been replaced, fuel lines and injectors inspected and cleaned already, spark plugs replaced, and no holes were found anywhere in the lines. That's why we're asking here. mechanic has checked anything and everything he could think of. :("

the mechanic did not do the one thing he is supposed to do first ---and that is to run the fault codes
That will tell him exactly what the problem sensor is and would have saved you a lot of money
Manufacturers spend a lot of money incorporating into the ECM a reporting system just to inform the owner and mechanic of a problem , but unfortunately many mechanics don't use that report
Find your self an authorized accredited service shop and have the codes read ( many auto spares shop do it for free)
