SOURCE: gdm-73 how to adjust the door closing?

there is no spring tension on refrigerator doors, you adjust the front legs slightly higher than the rear legs and this forces a small amount of incline and gravity on the door to help it close on its own

Can I get my Craftsman 1/2 hp automatic opener I'm guessing it's 20 years old to open the door all the way, after the spring broke?

as the spring is required to take the load off the motor in the operation what you are in effect doing is over loading the motor
you make the adjustments after the spring has been fitted

Tensioning garage door tortsion bar. This door is old & the spring is encased in a tube. It has adjusters on both ends , set at 16. How do i adjust them.

if the problem is that the door comes down too fast or is heavy to lift , increase the load of the spring ( 16 to 18,20 etc
do this with the load off the spring ( door fully up-in this position there is less wind up of the spring and that makes it easier to add tension)
properly adjusted the door should remain at any position, be easy to lift and shut
send a photo of the shaft ends if you want more information or talk with a door installer as to how adjustment can be made

Broken sprocket coupler

Could be. Yet you may only need to adjust the springs and not replace them.. In case you have roll up/ sectional garage door, it should be quite easy you need to release the traveler from the rail so you can open and close the door manually/by hand then, while open the door on the knee level leave the door. If it falls down the springs need adjustment.
In general the door should stay at the same position on every stage it is while pulling it up and down.
If the door falls/ closes down not enough tension on springs, if door opens up too much tension on springs. If door acts funny.like close when close to the floor and jump up when its futher more open, it means that you don't have the matching springs for the weight of your garage.

Oven door removal

Most residential oven doors are removable by taking out two screws of each hinge. Located on the door on left n Right sides where the hinge slides into the door. These also are the way to adjust the door by loosening n then snug the screws, close the door. Adjust it, then carefully open without affecting your adjustment. Then tighten the screws. When removing the door MAKE SURE THE DOOR IS FULLY OPENED. THE HINGES ARE SPRING LOADED N WILL SNAP BACK.

It sounds like a door spring problem. Here is a website with a video of adjusting a door with extension springs.

Cannot open the door of the dishwasher.

Hi,
  • The latch on many dishwashers is adjustable. If your door is easy to close but difficult to latch, adjust the latch to let the door close more easily. If you can't see any way to adjust the latch, yours may be fixed in a certain position. Check for other reasons for the latching problem.

  • If the latch has worn out in a way that makes it impossible for you to close the door properly, you probably need to replace the latch.

  • Your dishwasher has two springs that counterbalance the weight of the door. If either or both of these are broken, the door feels quite heavy and you need to replace both springs.

My Liftmaster Formula 1 garage door opener has started to shut unevenly, making one side of the closed door slightly higher than the other. This leaves a gap under the closed door on one side. The door...

my friend had the same problem and yes that is what we did. It took a wile to set it evenly. Wouldn't think it would take long but it did. We inadvertently set them to tight and door wouldn't close it would reverse on itself because of the added tension. In the end we did get it though.

The door on my dishwasher will not close

There are a few problems that can occur with the diswasher door assembly. These usually involve the latching mechanism, the door seal, the counterbalance spring assembly or the hinges. 1) The door latch plate can occasionally become out of alignment. Some door latch plates are adjustable, some aren't. If yours is adjustable, try loosening the retaining screws and repositioning the plate. It's trial-and-error, so have a lot of patience. If this doesn't work, then the latch needs replacing.
2) A new dishwasher or a newly installed door seal can be difficult to close for a while until the seal softens and compresses over time. You can try adjusting the latch, if possible.
3) If the door feels unusually heavy, there could be a problem with the counterbalance spring assembly. These counterbalance assemblies allow the door to open and close easier and are held by two springs. On some dishwasher models, holes are positioned in line so you can re-tension the springs by moving the spring hooks to other tensioning holes. If any of these springs break, they will need to be replaced as a pair.
4) The door hinges might be bent. They can seldom be adequately fixed and should be replaced.
hope this helps
