The ice maker heater element is not working. It slightly melts the ice so the fingers can push the ice out of the tray.

Reset the ice maker back to making ice again

Turn the water supply off to the fridge, make sure the bailer wire (ice level bar) is in the down position. let the Ice maker run thru its cycle. When the cycle is complete the fingers that push out the cubes should all be down. Unplug the fridge for about 5 min. During this time turn the water supply back on. Plug the fridge back in and let it run thru a few cycles. This should reset the icemaker cycle. As a note: you should be able to hear the water turn on with a solid thump as the valve opens to fill the cube trays inside the icemaker.

My 3mth old e522brxu fisher and paykel ice maker has stopped working water is working fine you can manually force a dump and hear the cycle start to turn the tray but no water fills the tray can not hear a...

Hi, For the benefit of anyone doing a Google search for it (which is likely anyone with a Fisher and Paykel fridge w/icemaker) the broken wire is a notorious design flaw, and if you see it dangling from your ice tray - symptom is no ice being made -

You must remove the clip underneath the ice tray, and a little foam pad with it. There you will see the broken wire attached to a little black sensor. It's a little fiddly to do in place, but after unplugging the fridge (unless you like a good electric jolt) you need to splice the wire and reattach it. Your ice maker should resume working as intended.

Hope that helped.

Good luck.

Makes ice but will not dispence ice

Hello Kaboris3,

If your ice maker is making ice but fails to eject it, you may have a faulty mold release heater. If the ice tray is cycling in its loop... and is positioned to drop ice but the cubes are not being released, that will happen if the heater fails to turn on to relase them. Try power cycling the fridge to get things back in sync.. ( unplug the fridge for a few minutes then plug it back in ) sometimes that will get things started again. If that fails to work, you may have to defrost your freezer to meke sure the ice maker isn't stuck in one spot with ice... if you get too much water in the tray, it may spill over and freeze and restrict the ice tray conveyor from rotating. Depending on the model, you can remove the front access cover to the ice maker to see if the motor is running ( very slowly but should cycle if you watch it carefully).. Those are a few ideas that you may consider trying.. Hope that helps you fix your problem... worst case scenario is remove and replace the entire ice maker assembly.. most are plug n play assemblies and easily installed... Good Luck !

Fridgedaire frs23lh5db1 ice maker not working. this fridge is used and when i got it the green plastic line at the back of the fridge was cut and missing a 2' section of line. i spliced the line back...

there is a fill solenoid in the system, however if you are hearing a "pump" noise then I suspect that the solenoid may be working. There is no pump in the system. The whole system and the cycle is controlled by the icemaker control timer which is on the back of the unit. It is possible that the gear on the end of the shaft has snapped off (typical problem):

The simple and most expensive solution is to replace the ice maker assembly. They sell for between 50 bux on e-bay to 150 bucks at Sears. From what I have seen most ice makers fit the same category and they look like they are all designed and built by the same company!!

The main problem is the gear on the backside of the unit snaps off for various reasons like ice cubes getting stuck and causing the ejector rake to jam, thus overloading the flimsy gear and snapping it off. You can not purchase the gear however you can choose to buy a gear-head assembly for 80 or so bux.

shows a typical repair kit. Just enter your model number on their website to find the exact match for your ice maker.

I repaired the broken gear on mine using some structural epoxy. Here is a pic of the repair in progress, The green stuff in the center of the gear is the epoxy I used. Good Luck!!

Brand new ice maker, water fill to tray will not shut off

The new ice maker should tell the dual water valve on rear of refrigerator to turn on if the tray makes a complete cycle. So the new ice maker is defective or the water valve on back is stuck open that leads up to the ice maker. Unplug the wires to the water control valve on back of the refrigerator and then turn the ice maker on. If the water continues to flow I recommend replacing the water valve. If the water stops coming to the ice maker I recommend returning the new ice maker. You only need to unplug the side of the water control valve leading to the ice make. I also recommend a pre-filter for the incoming water before the water control valve. Makes the water and ice better and keeps trash from damaging the water control valve. Let me know your results or if you need more assistance, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Ice maker problem

Clear the Ice tray by pressing the button under the ice maker. The problem is that the ice is in the first couple of slots is not dumping and the tray tries to fill again and over flows. I pressed the button and cleared the tray of ice (This will tilt the tray and twist it to empty it) that was re-frozen several times without dumping. My ice maker works perfectly after I did the above. I think the problem arises if the door did not close completely. I stopped hanging the dish cloth on the door and on my LG Dish wisher. I hope this helps

Fridge freezer door ice maker

the ice maker controls the seloniod the icemaker wire arm must be all the way down .just because the seloniod test good doesnt mean the valve seat isnt stuck the water valves open by your house water pressure if your filter is dirty this can also lower the pressure if the icemaker module is bad this also can cause it if you pull the front of the ice-maker off you will se a bunch of holes if you get a piece of 10 Gage house strip about 1/4 inch off either side and insert it into the holes marked t and h that will test cycle the ice maker they will be close together don't get shocked if the ice maker cycles and doesnt fill and the ice maker fill tube isn't frozen replace the water valve if the ice-maker doesn't cycle replace the brown motor module
