These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes).From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it.This will make repair easy.These are called blinking codes. if this is a 37lg30 i have brand new spare parts. the tv was never used it was dropped and the screen was damaged so i just took out the parts out. i was originally looking for some one that had a problem with there tv but a good screen like you but its easier to ship out the boards.

Have an LG26Lx1D for about 3 years, dropped off by my son.(Figures).Power light just blinking, but went back to red.Removed back panel, and metal cover. Just above antenna/cable input, its a small fan,mine was full of dirt. Blow off dirt, and make sure its turning freely.
Install back the covers, an voila....its a miracle...its working again.

Unplug it from the wall for about an hour and see if it resets itself. Otherwise you will need to do troubleshooting insdie the set.
