SOURCE: head of trimmer/edger doesn't spin

i have the same problem, the plastic timing pulley on the motor assembly is probably melted, remove all the screws down the side of the housing, including the one hidden under the label, and you will find that the belt and the pulley are both chewed up.

Why does my gh 1000 endlessly spit out line??

You need to make sure the line is on fairly tight and that the bump and go system is not engaged as this will spill the line out. It also need to be wound on anti clockwise.

What replacement line is used for the BLACK & DECKER Grasshog. 5,063,673 5,620,336 6,443,753 6,443,762

For the cordless Grass Hog, the replacement spool is AF-100. You can purchase these spool heads online or maybe find them at your local hardware store, but they may be hard to find because the Grass Hog is not made any more.

My grass hog xp starts but the spool won't spin

This unit is supposedly the same as the GH700 drive system. There is a 5:1 plastic reduction gear inside the housing driven by a steel gear from the motor. It easily strips, melts, or simply breaks. The part is difficult to find. I have not found one yet for my situation.
