Hi,

Okay now have you removed the motor from the gearbox, if so did you refit the coupler that located between the motor and gearbox, another cause is a sized brake... I can help in all cases , UK based ?

Rob

Kodiak 450 won't go into 4 wheel drive

cdi i doubt its bad. raise front end and try engaging . turn wheels both at same time. servo motor weak and wont shift with weight on front end . servo is magnetic shifter and engages a gear on shaft when power is applied to it. had this trouble on several of these models. try it also check lubrication level and clean grease if milky at all. water is in grease if milky dont drive it w/milk color it WILL cause damage if left in that condition.

1998 jeep grand cherokee starter. Not engaging to flywheel. Works fine when manually jumped from battery.

Sometimes I take the starter motor off the vehicle. Lay it on the ground, hook up jumper cables properly from battery to starter motor, it should do two things, kick out the drive gear and spin. Do you have a flywheel cover that you can remove and watch the starter drive gear engage the flywheel? Also, check the flywheel teeth.

99 Ford F-150 won't go into 4wheel drive I looked undernieth and front drive shaft is not turning

Someone will have to go under and check the linkage is working when the 4 wheel drive is fully engaged and not just moved to a neutral position.

Turn key get nothing jump starter and sylenoid just spins

i cant dope out that symptoms.

does it crank or not. be clear there.

no car starts (but my 6sp) if it dont crank.

on A/T cars cranking is a first thing. so does it.?

Solenoids do not spin, the stroke only , it a linear motion.

the Sol. moves the pinion and the main contactor switch only.

my guess is the Starter spins and the crank don\'t spin,

you hear the starter motor spin up, it sings. like bird.

that means the starter /solenoid are bad. (crude)

if the battery is good and or jumper starting off a running car.

It can just be a dirty starter pinion, clean it , repeat.

fixed many for this. i have.

battery cable lugs clean, and good. no green rust.

bad cable usually just make a loud THUNK sound. no spin.

To know for sure you need to test the battery and the solenoid but first reach under the motor and turn the shaft and make sure the motor turns. You can do both at the solenoid First check to see how many volts are coming in to the solenoid then engage the start switch and check to see how many are coming out. then go to the starter and check the cable by testing the voltage at the lug going into the starter. Make sure your starter bolts are tight. If they are not remove the starter and clean where the starter contacts the motor if necessary. If all this checks out and you receive a little more than 12 volts. then it is probably going to be your bendix drive. This is usually a system of two interlacing gears where one travels up other elevating the the starter interlock gear to the fly wheel. First is it traveling up to the fly wheel gear engaging but the shaft is spinning inside the gear. Or is it not traveling at all. either way it's got to go.O7OUT

Battery is good but when I turn it on it just clicks won't start, maybe after 20 times it starts

Without hearing the sound it makes - it's kind of hard to diagnose.

The engine starting process consists of turning the key to start, the starter motor's rotor moving forward to engage the engine's flywheel, and then the starter motor 's "rotor" spinning until you move the key from "start" to "run". You can hear the starter motor spinning - but one usually can't hear the rotor moving forward to engage the flywheel. As a result, you hear the odd spinning sound - which is the starter rotor spinning. The engine never actually turns over because the rotor never engages the fly wheel. If this is the case, then it is very likely that your starter needs to be checked and / or replaced.

Good luck!

My front loader fills with water, pumps and drains fine but the drum never moves or spins . Already cleaned pump, Checked belt and motor, belt is good and motor and drum spin freely.

Remove the back panel of the machine and operate it to check that the drive belts are being engaged to drive the drum. Observe the operation from a safe distance when you have the back off as there are live terminals within reach and you could be severely shocked if you come into contact with any one of them. Unplug the machine again before checking anything withing the workings.

In Drive position the wheels are locked and in neutral the wheels remain locked and will not spin or free wheel. In drive with the battery in the unit just clicks but does not move, everything works such...

I would suspect that the brake is not releasing causing your problem. When you place the handle in freewheel and you can't push the scooter easily then the brake pad is stuck on the motor housing. If you are able remove the seat and back cover remove the drive wheel on the side of the scooter nearest the freewheel lever usually the right side. you should be able to see the brake attached to the end of the motor with 3 or 4 hex head screws. take the brake off the end of the motor and carefully leave the wiring attached ( don't break or remove the wires going to the brake or the scooter will not run at all) remove the brake and place or tie it up where it won't fall or drag. Put the drive wheel back on and turn the scooter on and see if it will now move. If it moves like it should you will have to replace the brake. You can drive the scooter like this but remember you do not have brakes so the scooter can roll backwards or forward when not on and especially on ramps Hope this helps

Transfer case wont engage

shift into 4wd and move truck a couple of feet.
if light is still off, park truck block the wheels set the park brake jack right front wheel and try to hand spin the wheel if wheel doesn't turn 4x4 is functioning properly but there is a wiring problem use an ohmmeter to check the 4x4 switch wiring fuse and bulb
if wheel turns freely the front axle or transfer case is not engaged
attempt to hand spin the front driveshft if the driveshaft will spin the transfer case is not engaged check the transfer case shift linkage, problem is in linkage or transfer case internals
if the driveshaft will not spin the transfer case is engaged properly
with trnsmission in neutral or park start engine measure vacuum on the two vac lines at front axle shift motor . one line should have approx 20" vacuum. other line should have none
if no vacuum measured look for vac leak or bad vac switch
if both lines have vac look for a bad vac swithc or ruptured cad actuator diaphragm
if one line has 20" +- VAC
move transfer case lever to 2wd measure vac again lines should have swapped vac signals
if no vac switch bad or 4wd shift likage needs adjusting
if yes vac motor bad or stuck or shift fork stuck
remove vac shift motor from the axle attach vac lines to shift motor engage disengage 4wd
does shift motor plunger move at least 1/2 inch
no shift motor bad
yes check axle shift fork and vac motor for binging
