These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. It has details about blinking codes, and fault locating procedure, to many popular brand TVs and other devices. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Yeppers. Sounds like the standby power supply has a bad capacitor in it and the regulator Ic is defective. These parts should only be replaced by quilified technician as there is very high voltage inside these sets. Good Luck

SOURCE: Standby Indicator flashing SONY KD-32NX100U

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1Theinternal circuits are jammed because of electrostaticcharges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage readby the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started theprotection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrongvoltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in, starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

If you want to repair at your own expenses, just locate any good qualified repairer.

If you want to DIY you find parts here,

On LCD Payparticular attention at inverter and power board, power board can beinspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with amultimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need toread voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.

On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.

On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.

SOURCE: I have a Toshiba TV model 36A43 that won't power

It sounds like you have a switch problem at the front panel of the set. If a switch gets stuck internally the micro is trying to process the command and won't respond to any other commands. The only way to find out is to go into the set and desolder all the manual switches and see if the remote will work the set. It has a seperate detector for the remote. Thanks for using fixya. Good luck

I have a oneforall remote urc 3050B00 I have a LG smart TV that I need the code for the remote

Here are the steps to program your OneForAll URC 3050B00 remote to control your LG smart TV:

Turn on your LG smart TV.
Press and hold the "TV" button on your OneForAll remote until the LED light on the remote turns on and stays on.
Enter the 4-digit code for LG TVs. The most common codes for LG TVs are 0030, 0056, 0178, 1265, and 1398, but you can also find a complete list of codes on the OneForAll website or in the manual that came with your remote.
Press the "Power" button on the OneForAll remote. If the TV turns off, the code has been successfully entered. If the TV does not turn off, repeat steps 2-4 with a different code until you find the correct one.
If none of the codes work, you can also try the code search function on your OneForAll remote to automatically find the correct code:

Turn on your LG smart TV.
Press and hold the "TV" button on your OneForAll remote until the LED light on the remote turns on and stays on.
Press and hold the "SET" button on the remote until the LED light blinks twice.
Press the "9" button on the remote. The LED light should blink twice again.
Point the remote at your TV and press the "Power" button repeatedly until the TV turns off.
Press the "OK" button on the OneForAll remote to save the code.
I hope this helps you program your OneForAll remote to control your LG smart TV!

I have a 51inch LG TV and never had a problem I turned it off as normal and then tried to turn it on a while later and nothing I only got a red solid stand-by light it don't flash when press side buttons...

Try following the steps below.
Step 1
Press the power button once. If the TV does not turn on, observe the LED indicator, usually located on the TV's lower front panel. If the LED indicator turned off after you pressed the power button once, it is in standby mode. Press the power button once again to exit standby and turn on the TV.

Step 2
Observe the Standby light if the remote control will not work. If the Standby light stays on, the television is in Standby mode. Press the power button on the television, then try to use the remote.

Step 3
Turn the Energy Saving Switch off, then press the power button. The Energy Saving Switch is located on the rear or side panel on most Sony model TVs. Refer to your TV user manual for the exact location of the switch.

Tv will not power up

Press the TV button or ON/OFF button while remote is in TV mode and there's a source of power to the outlet or outlet strip.

Make sure the TV is plugged in.

You might have tried to turn on the TV during the lamp cool-down. Wait a few moments and the picture will appear.

Has the power light on the front of the TV been blinking for one minute? If so, the lamp may be dead. Refer to the Power indicator
is blinking or flashing section below for more information.

When you first plug your TV into an outlet, the Power indicator on the front panel will light and blink for approximately 30 seconds
and then go off during the initialization of the TV. This happens only when the TV is unplugged and plugged back in. The TV can
only be turned on after the Power indicator goes off.

Check the wall receptacle (or extension cord) to make sure it is "live" by plugging in something else, such as a lamp.

Something might be wrong with your remote control. Press the POWER button on the front of the TV. If the TV turns on, check the
remote control solutions on page 53.

Multiple TV Setup might be set to the wrong option. Press MENU/OK on the front panel. Select Setup Options, then Advanced
Options, then Multiple TV Setup. Choose TV (default).
