Bought a new pump/valve where lavender/white wire and brown and white wire hooks up to but still no water going to ice maker. reversed the hook ups and when you push for water, water then comes out to the ice maker and not the water dispenser. what could be my problem.

The only other component stopping the valve from putting water into your icemaker is the icemaker itself. Replace your icemaker and you should solve your problem.

Water is not getting to the ice maker

As long as water is coming to the dispenser you can try this.
Access the water valve on the back of the unit, remove the green wiring connector from the green valve(green is the im valve). Leave it loose and take the dispenser wire(yellow) from the yellow valve and place it on the green valve body electrical connector. Disconnect the tubing from the green valve and press the dispenser, if water does not come out you have a bad green valve. If water does come out you have a blocked water line possibly frozen. If neither the dispenser or im get water check for 60 to 70 volts at the brown valve and 120vac at the yellow and green. If voltage is present then you should get water from the brown valve when the tubing is removed and the dispenser is depressed. If you get water through the brown valve then you need to disconnect the clear tube on the front of the valve and press the dispenser again, water should come out and if it doesn't change the filter if you haven't and check for a frozen water line. The line from the green valve(which goes to the ice maker) can be checked by simply disconnecting the green tube from the valve and blowing through it.

Water not comeing in ice maker

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. It’s on the back where the water supply comes in. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the fill tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Ice maker quit

Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
Is there water or ice in the ice mold? If not put water in it and see if it dumps the ice after it’s frozen. If there is ice, lift the cut off arm and let it drop to see if it will start.
If it does dump the ice but don’t refill with water.

Frigidaire Gallery Professionaly series broken ice maker

If you hook up the water to the fridge, that means you connected the water line to the 'Water Inlet Valve' of the machine. There should be a two wire harness connected to the water valve back. Look for that....

But please note following...

Some water valves in fridges are complicated with one harness for water dispenser line valve and another harness for ice maker water line.

Also seeing a disconnected wire harness does not mean it is for the water valve. May be most likely. But be careful sometime there are test wire harness for technicians to get power readings for components.

Ice maker not working

The activity with the water supply could have loosened some sediment in the line stopping up the little wire screen filter going into the water inlet valve. I would disconnect it and inspect the screen and flush the water line out before re connecting. Assuming you have water at the water dispenser Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

Amana side by side ice maker will not fill with water

Old message, I'm sure you have solved your problem by now, but . . .
IF
Amana/Whirlpool conforms to wiring standards (no guarantees), the main AC wires should be white=neutral, black=hot, red=switched line.  Of course, they already depart with the use of the brown wire.
You should be able to access the 'full' switch at the ice maker itself and as you have found, it will turn on (or off) the fill solenoid.
It would be kind to post back what you found as it might benefit others in the future.
Thanks-
