Hi Tim,
If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Check the cables, connectors and connections.
If your TV, flatscreen, or monitor is more than 5 years old it is more like to have suffered a component failure.
Take it to a repair shop.

TV screen has a thin horizontal line in center

this will only help until the next time it is out of alignment but if you slap the side of your tv about where the line is it should straighten out but there is no telling how long it will stay straight......My sons tv was doing that and i had a tv when i was young that did it that is what my mom told me to do and what i told my son to do and it works.... the problem is an alignment or conection problem from dust most likely.

Toshiba colorstream 27A33 TV

1.Are these lines only in the upper 1/3 rd portion of the screen? And is there a clear demarcation between this area and the lower portionb, where the image is perfect? 2.Or is thin Horizontal lines evenly spaced around an centimetre apart? If it is the first case, then there si a problem with your TVs SMPS. It is not generating the required regulated 110V required for the TVs functioning. If it is case 2, then there is a simple adjustment at the back - 'SCREEN'. This adjusts the Screen Grid Voltage, and by slightly lowering it, this problem will go away.
