Your LG washing machine’s motor is controlled by the main circuit board. This is the brain of your washing machine. Depending on the selected program and which cycle is currently running, the PCB will tell the motor which speed to run at and which direction to turn. The Hall Effect sensor on the main circuit board is fed operational feedback from the motor. If there is any difference between what the motor should be doing and what it is actually doing – the appliance will stop operating and display an “LE” error.

For example: if the main circuit board tells the motor to rotate clockwise at a certain speed and the motor doesn’t start, the monitoring sensor will relay this inactivity to the main PCB and a “LE” error will persist. The same error would be displayed if the motor rotates in the wrong direction or runs at the wrong speed. It should be evident there are many faults that could produce the “LE” error code. Failure of one of the major components or a fault in the monitoring and feedback loop, could all lead to this problem. It is true however, some faults occur more regularly than others. Test for the most common causes of failure, eliminate them, and move on to more unlikely faults.

Many causes for the “LE” error are thought to stem from LG’s manufacturing process. Many customers found the wiring damaged or completely severed in their washing machine’s motor drive and feedback loop. If the wires were installed too close to a moving part, they may be vulnerable to mechanical wear once the machine starts to operate. A washing machine vibrates a lot during a spinning cycle, so it is conceivable wires could be damaged in this way. Check the cables feeding the motor for any obvious signs of damage. If you cannot see any problem, disconnect those wires and check for conductivity with a multi-meter. There should be almost no resistance detected in the wire.

If you find a damaged wire, replace it and ensure the new wire is well out of the way of any moving parts. If the wire is faultless you will have to move on and continue fault finding. Try and turn the motor’s rotor by hand, if there is any real friction or if the rotor is seized – you will have to replace the motor. Faultless wiring and a washing machine motor - with the existence of an “LE” error code, indicates a fault in the main system board. It should be noted though; this is unlikely to be the cause of the problem. Almost all “LE” errors indicate faulty wiring - so ensure you have properly checked this before installing a new PCB.

WD14070SD6 LG Frontloading washing machine showing Error code LE. Rested motor as instructed but still not spinning.

Hi Adrianna,

Perhaps you have washed too big of a load causing the motor to lock up.

This is from LG:

"An LE error code on the washer's display indicates that the motor is locked, possibly due to a heavy wash load.
Large and heavy sized loads will put a strain on the motor, causing the LE code to occur. Performing a reset on the washer will normally resolve this error with a reduced load size. But if the error code displays on every washing cycle, the unit will require a repair service."

Have you tried restting the machine?

https://www.lg.com/us/support/help-library/le-error-code-CT00000305-1337701712239

If you have done all this, and still not working, will probably to call a repairer to come out and have a look at your motor.

Hope this helps!

I have a LG WM2016CW Front Load Washer that is not spinning during wash but does during test mode. What could be the problem?

Replace the motor position sensor also known as a 'hall' sensor. About $20. Pretty easy fix. Check out videos on , repairclinic.com , , appliancepartspros.com , or YouTube.com.
Pretty common erroron older units.

Annoying LG Tromm wm2277hw "LE error" won't go away.

Might be "tE" error code. Thermistor error. A $6 parts and pretty common and causes the symptoms you described.

I've got an LE code on the front of my washer

This error can sometimes present because of a miscommunication between the control panel and the wash motor. In this instance, the washer simply needs to be reset.

Step 1: Unplug the washing machine.
Step 2: While the washer remains unplugged, press and hold the [Start/Pause] button on the front panel for 5 seconds.
Step 3: Plug the unit back in, and run a rinse and spin cycle to test if the LE code is cleared.

Are there soap suds visible in the drum?
Over-sudsing is the main cause of LE error codes. Using non-HE (high efficiency) detergents or too much detergent will cause stress on the motor. In addition, detergent residue can also cause leaking and odor. Follow these steps to resolved an LE error code caused by over-sudsing.

Step 1: Unplug the washer and allow the unit to sit for 30 minutes to give the suds time to dissolve.
Step 2: Plug the washer back in and press [Power] to turn on the washer.
Step 3: Do not choose a washing cycle. Press the [Spin Speed] key until "No Spin" is selected.
Step 4: Press [Start/Pause] to begin a drain only cycle.
Step 5: After the drain only cycle has completed, remove the clothing items from the machine. Turn the power back on and select [Rinse and Spin] and then press [Start/Pause]. This will remove excess soap suds and light residue from the drum. Repeat this step until no visible suds are in the drum of the washer.

Hope this helps.

Lg washer shows up side down F E code

No, this is not the same as the LE code. The FE code indicates an overflow error or condition. The things to check out would be the drain and the drain line to make sure there are no kinks in it. The drain hose can get clogged with sludge and sometimes a hot wash with a 1/2 cup of vinegar will clean out the sludge. If that doesn't work, I would take a look at the pump to make sure it is not clogged with anything and that the pump impellers are good. Take a flashlight and look into the suction port of the pump. Look for any broken or missing impeller blades. If any are broken or missing or if the impeller will not move freely, the pump would need to be replaced. Hope this helped and best wishes.
