I just replaced a emerson e320 with a new badger 500 when I turned on power,even thou switch was off the disposal still came on. What's wrong?

You plugged it into the wrong socket under the sink.

Usually the reset button is located on bottom of disposal near where wire is connected..
Use your hair mirror to look at bottom of disposal.

Badger INSINKERATOR 5xp 3/4 HP HOW TO FREE JAMMED BLADES

Use a broom handle to turn the blades or use a wrench in the bottom of the unit. The wrench should have come with the disposal.

It will work but it sounds like metal is grinding in it.

Use vacuum cleaner to see if something is loose.
Otherwise, a noisy disposal that works is functional and not dangerous... but annoying.
Life of disposal is probably shortened since the bearing seal could have failed letting water in, and bearings could be rusted.
Replace disposal if noise bother you.
