If you keep losing your date and time it is most likely that you need to replace the CMOS battery. You can usually access it from under the panels that are removable Memory, Hard Drive etc. It is a watch battery size 2032. Once replaced reset your time and date and time zone and you should all good good luck

Dell Dimension 4600 will not reboot. I have to turn it off, unplug the power, push the On/off switch for a moment, let it set for 15 min then it will reboot. I have recently upgraded from 256kb ram to 1gb,...

from what you describe, they system will not shutdown. So try the following:
  1. Boot to safe mode (F8 at boot) and then see if the system will reboot from the safe mode.
  2. Boot to the Safe Mode again, Start RUN MSCONFIG, edit the startup group, (Basically uncheck all the items in the startup tab) reboot in the normal mode then see if it shutsdown. If it shutsdown normally, then start adding items back one at a time until you identify the items that were causing the items.
