SOURCE: How do I take pictures from my memory and put them on my SD card?

You'll have to buy the charger/station for S5. No other cord fits your nikon unfortunately.

SOURCE: nikon d40x issues with memory card

Sounds like the locking mechanism for your memory card is broken or defective. The only people qualified to fix that would be Nikon.

If it is still under warranty, let them know the situation.

If not, it will be around $200 to fix.

SOURCE: i have nikon camera dx100

Ladz215,
You didnt really say if the card was in your camera when you took the pictures, so I will try and walk you through a couple scenarios....
If the same card WAS in the camera when you took the pictures, and it worked OK until you took it out and re-inserted it, you can try a couple of different things. First off, by no means format the card! Look at the card contacts. If they are dirty, try wiping them gently with a clean cotton cloth (make sure it is cotton so you do not "zap" the card with static!) and some isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol- use it sparingly- put a little on the cloth- don't pour it on the card! Let it dry for a few minutes and try again. If you have some "canned air" you can blow out the camera slot also. With the card in your camera, also try connecting the USB cable to your PC and see if you can download them. If this does not work, look and see if you have a card slot in your PC or printer and see if you can read it that way. Another alternative is taking the card to the photo shop of your local Walgreens, CVS, Rite-Aid, or any other store with a photo shop....nearly all have card readers now.

If the card was not in your Nikon when you took the pictures, or if the card was not initially formatted, they will be in the cameras native memory. Connect the camera to your PC with the USB cable and you will be able to retrieve them. Normally without a card or if the card was not formatted before it is used, the camera is capable of holding about 35 pictures in its native memory.

When you are done, make sure to format your card so it will work in the future. Follow the menu instructions.

Good Luck! Thank You for using FixYa.

Camera comes on, says card is locked

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Viewing images on computer as they are taken

The P100 is not designed for tethered shooting. You can connect it to a computer to transfer pictures after they're taken, and to charge the battery. You could use an Eye-Fi card to transfer pictures as soon as they're taken, but again that's after you've taken the picture.

I purchases a vivitar vivicam 8025. Unfortunately the instructions got thrown away. I've only taken a few pics and the camera says "memory full insert sd memory card to transfer and take more...

You can download the manual from the manufacturer's web site at
http://www.vivitar.com/files_products/13/VC8025%20User%20Manual.pdf

The camera needs a memory card in order to save pictures. You can take pictures without one and view them on the screen, but those pictures are lost when you turn the camera off.

I took the memory card out of my coolpix 4600 and put it into a vivitar camera when i inserted the memory card back into my coolpix cannot get the camera to work or turn off

Did you take pictures with the vivitar camera and saved it on the same memory card? If so, that might be the problem. Delete those files taken by vivitar (copy them to your computer if it is important before deleting) then try the memory card again on your coolpix.

I have a 2GB camra card in my camra and today I went to download pictures off it and all the pics I have taken the last 5 months are gone! What happen?

First off don't format that card or take anymore pictures on top of what you have. If you were attempting to download from the camera to the PC/Mac the computer may not have recognized the camera. Can you still see the pictures on the camera in playback or preview mode? If so then the pictures are there. You should purchase a Memory card reader, remove the memory card from the camera plug the reader into a USB port and then put the memory card into the reader. Your computer will see this as an external mass storage device and possibly (depending on your operating software) put a Hard Drive icon on your desk top. Opening this hard drive will reveal your pictures. Going back to the camera and playback or view image mode if you don't see the pictures I'd suggest (not knowing where you are) you could go into a place that does digital printing and ask them to insert your card in a machine and it will open the files for you these then can be burned to a CD and then put in your computer to view.

I have pictures on the memory of my camera and I can't figure out how to get them to the card. When I scroll the menu to copy it will not allow me to select this option. I aslo don't understand why these...

To have pictures in the memory of your computer you have either taken photos without a memory card installed or accidentally copied them to your camera's memory.
To copy them to your memory card, you need to have the memory card inserted. Put the camera in view mode, press menu, select copy and select the first option.

I have taken pictures but i dont know how to get them onto the computer

Highly recommend that you consider using a card reader to download you pictures. You insert the camera's memory card into the reader, and then insert the reader into a USB port on your computer. The card then shows up as a hard drive so that you can simply copy/paste or drag your picture files onto your computer. Card readers are much more faster in downloading pics, do not require the use of your camera's batteries, and provide much more reliable downloading of the pictures (fewer errors). They're also VERY inexpensive these days. Here are some examples from Amazon:
