Yes , your fridge can get stuck in defrost mode. If you can locate the thermostat. Sometimes buried behind a panel in the freezer. There's an adjustment screw or trim screw that allows you to advance the timer on the thermostat. Sometimes they stick in the defrost mode. It may happen once and never happen again. If however it does continue you will have to replace that part.

Its defrost problem.When the freezer section gets cold and reaches its required cooling temperature, after that the frost on freezer section starts defrosting and the cooling fan in the freezer section blows this cool air from freezer to fridge. But if the defrost cycle does not start then over ice will get collected on freezer ventilations and that will block the air passing section from freezer to fridge, so the freezer gets cool but fridge section does not cool.Try manual defrost by unplugging the refrigerator from main power outlet for 24 hours then reconnect it and check, if the same problem is noticed again,. If yes then its defrost board problem. The defrost board located in the back of fridge section. your evaporator iced up, defrost it, leave it off for 24 hours.Check defrost heater,timer, and the fan motor.

Some fridges only cool the freezer and an evaporator fan motor moves cool air from the freezer to the fridge side. If this fan doesn't spin very freely then it may need to be replaced. You should also pull out the fridge and see where the drain hose is connected to the inside of the fridge, try pouring hot water down the hose to see if it is open. It may be clogged with a pea or some food or frozen. If your fridge is really full, make sure there is nothing in front of where the evaporator fan blows air into the fridge. Make sure that the adjuster flap is open in the fridge section.

May be ice build up - happened with mine. Had to defrost completely (unplug for 24+ hours) then it worked fine on restarting.

sounds like you have a bad evaporator fan motor, located in the freezer section ,it circulates the air up to the refrigerator compartment

Check the damper in the top back of the fresh food section. make sure that it is open and air is coming through it.

If you are sure the fan in the freezer is running and you don't feel any air flow out of the top middle vent inside the fridge section, then the damper motor must be bad. The damper motor is behind that vent cover inside the fridge section.

The most common problem is the evaporator fan motor which is located behind the back panel of the freezer and it moves cold air up to the fridge.  You will be able to hear it when you open the freezer door.  May have to hold the light switch in the freezer shut for it to come on.  If the fan is running feel for air flow out of the vent in the top middle of the fridge section.  If you don't feel air and the fan is running then the damper motor behind that vent is bad.  All of this is assuming that there is no frost buildup on the back panel of the freezer.  If there is frost buildup then it is a defrost problem.  Let me know what you find.
