I require a manual for my Ryobi RLT30CES strimmer. Purchased reconditioned from Ebay seller The strimmer has no serial number Have tried www.buymtdonline.com as suggested in another solution, entered a "1" for the serial number, but comes back with "format of serial number unknown"

Here is a 30CC Ryobi 2-stroke trimmer. Your ring is item number B-53 in the diagram. The part number is 03179. They have these in stock also. Hope this helps you!
I'm not sure about the carb. adjustment being removed. The newer carbs. only have one dial for adjustment, not the two screws like the "old school kind".It probably needs the carb. cleaned. Disassemble the carb. and clean with carb. cleaner. Use a Den Tek Brush, (used for cleaning teeth), to clean the small portals. Make sure the small screen in carb. is free of debis. The smallest of particals can cause your problem. Reassemble and try starting. If it still acts up, buy a carb. kit for trimmer and replace the needle valve, appropriate gaskets, diaphragm, and small screen. This should solve the problem.

I have had the similar problem & spent a day stripping the unit down
(dismantled & re-assembled the carb, seemed OK fuel reaching & flooding the plug) I unscrewed the spark plug from the body, but left it connected to the lead and found that there was intermittent spark when pulling the cord. and tested it with a continuity meter - no signal/measurement. bought a new spark plug, meter reading showed signal/measurement, now starts every time. It may be that Ryobi has been installing rather cheap nasty plugs. So test the plug first by watching the spark when pulling cord, test with a meter, if no continuity, buy new plug....
Check also that little gauze air filter behind the roto choke is not blocked.
this solved it for me.
Clean the carb wire gauze air filter behind the roto-choke knob. (undo the nut/washers & long bolt)
Deteremine if fuel is being fed to cylinder - Fully depress & prime the bulb about 7 times, turn to full choke. Pull start cord about 7 times. Remove spark plug see/smell fuel fumes/vapour present in cylinder
Determine if compression is weak - remove plug, put finger over plug port, pull start cord. Should be evident of resistance/pressure build up when cord is pulled.
Of course brand new plug!!! as above (I would try this first)

I have one of these and I have to admit they are a bit of a bug*er to start. Following the instructions though on the sheet for trying to start it eventually should kick it off and then you should be away. I start mine by alternating between no choke and the half choke with about half a dozen pulls each. generally pull with the throttle held but try a few with it off every now and again. If you get to 10 mins without success, put it down, have a drink and a rest and go back in 30 mins and try again. I wouldnt have thought a straight petrol mix would do it any harm though, if you had over mixed with oil then that could have been a differnt story.
