Cuisinart 5.5 stand mixer head-lift release lever will not stay engaged?

First try adjusting it. The head may be set so low, the head can't latch. Does it latch with no whisk attachment? The video shows how to adjust it with the whisk in place using a dime..

If that isn't the reason, spares are available and dealer service is available.

Kitchen aid unlocks

By unlocks I have to assume that the mixer head can be lifted up during operation (yes that's really messy ans in some cases maybe even dangerous) I have to assume that you also mean the the head lock switch is not engaging, You have to take the mixer apart to re attach the mixer lock switch. There are several really good videos on youtube that shows step by step procedure for taking the mixer apart. you will see the switch when you have the mixer apart. tighten the screw down tight enough to make the switch engage again. Re-assemble the mixer.

Motor runs, shaft will not turn

Hi there,

I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your appliance.

It may mean your worm gear has broken and this is why it will not turn.

I have added a link below for a new worm gear and a video on how to replace it.

My KitchenAid tilt head lock keeps coming loose while beating small amount of dough allowing the head to wobble gradually bad? This is the second mixer with same problem! I've heard some people talking...

In my case the lock was not engaging fully because the internal mechanism was bent too short. I'm not sure if this happened over time or if it is just a manufacturing defect. If your mixer still has some up-and-down play to it when the lock is engaged, then you might have the same problem as me

To fix it, search this site and others for instructions on how to remove the motor cover. I found this video useful: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VeCiivPt7hk

With the cover removed you have access to the locking mechanism. In my case, the latch is connected to the locking lever via a bent S-hook. The hook was just slightly too short which kept the latch from engaging completely. If you remove the two screws holding the hook in place and that allows the lock to close completely, then you have the same problem as me. (You'll feel the difference immediately. When fully locked, there is practically no wobble in the mixer head.)

I lengthened the hook by placing it against a flat surface and hammering the bend out a bit.

The attachment for grinding meat on the front wont work ? mixing arm in bowl works fine ! why wont it engage?

Firstly I would check it is fully engaged. If it is, remove the food grinder and look into the hole. You should be able to see a square hole inside. Turn on the mixer, the square hole should spin, if it does not, one of the gears inside the head has most likely broken. To repair this you will need to take the head apart.

The other possibility is that I misread your problem and that the grinder is turning, but the meat wont go through the plates at the end. This is a common issue which happens if the blade is not put in the end of the grinder. The blade is shaped like a cross and cuts the meat when it reaches the end of the screw.

Mixer goes off on overload protection when under a

This means that it is overheating, if there isnt to much mixture in the machine then the problem is in the motor. Depending on age and value of the mixer I would purchace another one as they are cheaper to buy. If it is still under warranty I suggest taking it back to the supplier that you bought it from. I hope thi is helpful.

Leaking fluid, oil I think around the kitchen aid ring

Bucksmom, Sorry to hear you mixer is 'leaking'... I hate it when that happens. You don't mention how old or what model your KA mixer is? I assume you mean the band around your mixer with the Kitchenaid logo, when you say 'kitchen aid ring.
Your mixer does have an internal gear mechanism (transmission if you will) which converts the electric motors rotation into the mixer rotation and those gears are located within the mixer. The gears were lubricated at the factory, but depending on the age of your mixer and how it is used, it is possible that the grease has leaked beyond the gasket and that is what you are seeing now.
It is possible to disassemble the mixer to determine where the grease is coming from and troubleshoot if anything else might be wrong within the transmission.
Hopefully the leakage is not getting into your food being mixed. Kitchenaid Grease should be 'food grade' grease, but you still don't want to ingest it.
I hope this helps... Howard, Burke, VA

The locking pin on the Kitchenaid Artisan mixer (KMS150) will not fully engage. The hinge pin had come out and we put that back in, not the lever will not fully engage.

I had the same issue. I just finished tearing mine apart only to find that the lock just wasn't engaging with a slot in the base of the mixer. Try lifting up the head of the mixer to expose the height adjust screw in the hinge between the base and the head. By tightening mine down a couple of turns, the lock can engage the slot again and the lock works. You may have to do a little tweaking to find the right balance between height adjustment and latch functionality, but at least you won't have to tear your mixer apart like I did!
