The front audio panel will only work if connected to motherboard. Try
connecting to the audio panel in the back of the computer (directly
to the motherboard). If the rear panel audio plug (green) doesn't work
then the audio drivers that came with the motherboard might need to
be installed. Check your audio driver status with operating system.

1. check if your front panel is connected to your motherboard at proper port2. check "expert mode" on your via hd audio deck, click "advanced options" and check "redirected headphone" (THIS WILL UNCHECK "INDEPENDENT HEADPHONE") and uncheck "enable front panel jack detection"
this should solve your problem.

The Picture below shows you the locations of the places to put those wires are in relation to your motherboard. In yellow is the power switch and such. and the audio connection is in red.

The Pin layout for the power and other connector are as follows:
avatar23454_10.jpg

the layout for the audio header is as follows: avatar23454_8.jpg

To install the cable that connects a front panel audio solution to the front panel audio header, follow these steps:
  1. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the computer. Turn off the computer and disconnect the AC power cord.
  2. Locate the front panel audio header (J8A1).
  3. Remove the three jumpers from the header (this disables the back panel audio connectors).
  4. Install a correctly keyed and shielded front panel audio cable.
  5. Connect the audio cable to the front panel audio solution.

To restore back panel operations follow these steps:
1. Remove the front panel audio cable. 2. Install a jumper on pins 5-6 (rear R channel). 3. Install a jumper on pins 9-10 (rear L channel). 4. Install a jumper on pins 1-2 (mic). 5. Replace the cover.

Front panel audio failure-DG33FB Intel mainboard

Your Intel DG33FB board by default was already setup for use. Your board has been configured for independent multi-streaming 5.1 audio (using the back panel audio connectors).
Your board should have come with a shielded front panel audio cable to connect front panel audio as shown on page 45, item B. The pin out for the front panel audio header is shown on page 46, table 5.
If you did not receive this cable you may need to contact Intel.
Check the Intel link included, which shows the cable needed for either AC'97 or HD cabling;
Audio standards: AC'97 and HD audio

Most motherboards will not play audio through the rear jacks when the board is connected to the front audio pins.
Intel like other manufactures do not mention this in their manuals.

Frontpanel sound

By default, the pins labeled LINE OUT_R/BLINE_OUT_R and the pins LINE OUT_L/BLINE_OUT_L are shortened with jumper caps. You should remove the caps ONLY when you are connecting the front audio cable. So, if you are going to use the back panel, you should short the pins mentioned earlier. You cannot use the back panel and the front panel at the same time. If you want to use your headphones using the back panel, short the mentioned pins and connect your headphones to the green header of your back panel audio. If you want to use the front panel, take off the jumper caps and connect the front panel cable. Remember, if you connect the front panel audio cable, you won't be able to use the back panel. If you are going to use the back panel, don't forget to return the jumper caps. Usually the 5-6 and 9-10 pins. Hope this helps.
