There is no code to turn the Hisense 40H3E into a smart TV. This TV doesn't have the network LAN or WI-FI hardware or software. You can only add network streaming by connecting a streaming stick (Roku, Fire, etc.), streaming box (similar items) or use a computer. Most streaming devices connect to the HDMI port; you may need an HDMI switch to share the TV with multiple devices.

Note: the USB port on this TV may not supply sufficient power for some streaming devices. You may need to connect them to an USB power supply to a standard outlet.

The HDMI port may be on the back of the TV, near the bottom.

If you do not have the owner's manual for your TV, which probably shows where connections for the TV are located, then you can go to the Insignia Product Support web page:

You can use the Search box to find an owner's manual for your TV. It is below the Product Information heading.

check the input 1st , or change cables , use an rca cable to test sound. other than mute thats all the remote can do but there is one more
in the settings the tv can be set to internal speakers or ext or both

This issue is usually caused by a bad cable or a excessively long cable.
To test this try this cable on anther port or TV, also turn the cord around and try the opposite ends in the TV.
If you find that the cord works on another TV than chances are it's the port on the TV or other appliance.
You should have more than one HDMI input you can also try using one of those and seeing of that resolves the issue.

If you have an HDMI tv, and just because it is a wide screen does not me it is High Definition or HDMI compatible, you will normally find the connector on the back marked HDMI.
Not knowing what TV you have, I can't really tell if it is HDMI compatible or not, but you will know by the shape of the connector if it is.

Go to the samsung website, and find out how to upgrade the firmware for your TV. You will probably need a portable usb memory stick to do so (if your TV is equipped with one). HDMI is an evolving technology, and firmware upgrades can resolve many of these quirky issues.
