Where are the brushes on a WD640 as I cant see them. I've taken the back off but they were not where I was expecting. The machine has stopped spinning.

Washer dryer will not spin. The drum turns round ok, it washes fine but then won't spin either on slow or fast. Think it may have an induction motor as cannot see any brushes. We have checked the pump etc but all ok.

Washers and dryers don't in general use brush type motors as they cause radio interference. instead they use a brush less motor quiet and last for years error free . while i don't really know what the problem is you won't find brushes in this.

Brushes are mounted on the motor at the opposite to the belt pulley. A bit fiddly to get at but can be removed without removing the motor itself. Brushes are not the only reason for no spin of course. An easy way to check brushes is to use a simple multimeter and check continuity between the brush connector and the commutatir

No steam or water through steam wand on Gaggia Titanium

Try this, push in on the knob when the flow stops, if that works, then the tap rod needs to be replaced. If your machine has the plastic steam valve assembly, try to get the stainless steel steam valve, I noticed that you have replaced once.

Timers can be expensive whereas brushes generally arent. First of all unplug the machine and tilt it over. You will see the plastic brush holders either side of the motor at the back. You need to prize them out carefully and check if they are protuding over the end. If they are they are probably ok. Then you need some fine sandpaper. Hold this through the brush holder gap and press against the coil inside. Turn the motor by hand thus cleaning it off. Then put it back together and try it again.

My hotpoint wd640 is leaking from the powder tray.

It depends what is securing the pipe.
Sometimes it is a plastic clip which you have to force apart, sometimes is a pozidrive screw head, for which you will need a pozuirive screwdriver, and sometimes it is a conventional jubillee clip.
It could be anyone one of these.

Bosch angle grinder stopped cold when tapped lightly

Yes, if you have taken the handle halves apart (unplug tool first) check with your meter thru the blades on the cord to the switch contacts and then lock the switch in the on position and check across the switch and then remove the brush caps and brushes and check thru to the brush holders, if at any time you lose continuity then that would be your problem. Let me know if I can help further.
