Replace snowblower belt

Locate the two top auger housing fastening bolts and remove. The auger housing will tilt forward and then lift the housing off of the bottom 2 bolts/bushings. You will need to support the traction frame as it will try to fall onto the handles.

What is the number of the auger belt on a Craftsman snowblower model number 71-52408-4

Try to google or go directly to Sears online support. If your product is still being made, go to the new purchase page, see if the details tell you, if not, check out the reviews to see if anyone else knows or has asked for the part number.
Or just go to sears online support, it might tell you.

Tip- I got a washing machine replacement belt online at ebay for only a couple of bucks, while the company wanted like $30 or so for the same thing.

How to remove the belt from craftsman snowblower model C459 52560 MFG code 1/055/3-0079

Unfortunately like many other snowblowers you first need to seperate the auger/blower assembly from the drive/engine assmbly. Pretty straight forward after that. Make sure you put belts on the right side of the metal tab that cleans the back side of the belts when running or you'll they'll cut in two the first time you engage the auger

CRAFTSMAN SNOW THROWER DRIVE WHEELS WILL NOT MOVE - RAISE REAR UP AND WHEELS DO - AUGER WORKS IT JUST WON'T MOVE

well if it is a walk behind style it could be the drive is out of adjustment, also craftsman were famous for the cable mounts bending and that will throw them out of adjustment. follow the traction drive linkage down to the base of the blowe and there should be an adjustment, or it will be under the belt gaurd or even on the handle on some.

Traction Belt (new) continues to slip off of drive plate.

Sounds like you may need to replace the pulley as well. It has likely worn out of specification.

I recommend that you contact your nearest authorized service center, or contact Toro directly for assistance.

I trust this information proves useful.
