Washer will not Spin during SPIN CYCLES

My washer will fill with water, it will spin both ways during the wash cycle but when it goes to the spin cycle you can hear the machine draining the water but it does not spin. It will then go onto the rinse cycle where it will again spin both ways and then you can hear it start to drain and go into the final spin cycle but the machine does not spin for it. Help PLEASE!

I HAVE AN LG FRONT LOAD WASHER AND YESTERDAY WHEN IT WAS ON THE FINAL SPIN-OUT IT WOULD NOT GO IT STAYED ON TEN MINUTES AND STARTED MAKEING SOME REALLY BAD NOISES WHEN IT WOULD TRY TO TURN. PLEASE HELP WITH ANY INFORMATION.

  • Anonymous Nov 12, 2007

Have a Kenmore front load washer (model 41744152400) and it does everything correctly except it will not do the final high speed spin. It drains the water and also does the final back and forth slow spin at the end. I took the front off and made sure there was nothing in the pump. I did find 3 quarters and a key in the rubber hose in front of the pump but when I put it back together it did not help. These washers will not spin if there is water still in the tub but in this case all of the water had pumped out. I am assuming the motor control board is the problem so I will try replacing it.

My Affinity ATF7000ES1 will not spin. It goes thru entire cycle but does not spin. I checked Pump and drain are both are clear and working properly. Someone says its the possibly the door?? Any help here??

  • Anonymous Jan 27, 2008

I have the exact same problem. Today I tried every wash setting and it will not do the fast spin. It will only fast spin on the spin only setting and I'm wondering how much longer I'll have that option. Repairman said I'm not loading it correctly, charged 78 bucks and left. He'll be back this week and I am not paying for the visit.

Washer fills with water, will not spin wash, but will drain, fills again to rinse but will not spin, but water will drain.

I've checked door latch to insure no false signal is being sent and also checked soap dispenser for same insurance.

What is wrong? How do I cure.? I've read senarios on line and am not happy with hearing 500-600 expense.

  • Anonymous Apr 18, 2008

Exact problem. Drum cycles both ways thru wash cycle. When spin cycle starts, you can hear water leaving machine, but drum does not turn (does not even try to turn). The manual sezs the load too lite, to add more cloths. Did that, no difference. Time to call the service man$$$$$.

  • puninski Apr 19, 2008

Same problem. Called service man. He had problem isolated in about 30 seconds. Me thinks he has seen this problem many times before. He ran diagnostics and error 47 showed up. It defined problem to door/latch problem. Repair costs: $ 300. I disected the door/latch assembly and found the problem to a $17 waxmotor. This is a soleniod that makes sure you can't open the washer during the spin cycle if power is lost to your washer.

After some research on the Internet, found that Frigidare had a class action lawsuit on previous models washer with same "Wax Motor" problem. This looks like a high failure item. My washer was purchased about 14 months ago (no extended warrantee). Many reports of this component failing between 1 - 2 years. Frigidare does not sell part as it is part of an assembly Door/Latch: Part# 131763245.

Repair Clinic sells the wax motor at www.repairclinic.com and use part# 752102 - http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/... for $17.30.

Stood and watched the Spin Only cycle entire time. Swished back and forth but never went into high spin. Errrrr...Seems to spin on some cycles because not all clothes are sopping wet.

  • jenn_kirby Jun 19, 2008

I have the same problem. My washer will not do a complete spin cycle and I have to wring them out by hand before I put them in the dryer and I still have to dry them twice. I have cleaned out the drain hose but that didn't help much and I really don't want to call in a repair man for a $50 dollar part if any one has any suggestions it would be really predicated.

  • gsenorita Jun 19, 2008

Exactly the same spin problem! Or I should say "no spin". I get error code E90. Which of course is NOT in the error code list provided by the manufacturer. The icing on the cake is that this is our THIRD Frigidaire Affinity. I want a washer that works.

  • Raj Kulkarni Jun 30, 2008

Kenmore (may be Frigidaire) front load washer (#417.44052400) does not spin. At the end of wash cycle, water drains from the drum but clothes (any size load) are dripping wet.

Runs through all of the diagnostics (during the last test, it spins at very high speed), but in the end gives error code 43 (A set of right-most vertical LEDs blink four times, followed by one single LED just to left of these three times). The diag suggest Control board problem. Which one? There are two Control boards part # 134484001 (changing that did not help) and other is part #134409900 -Motor control board. Have checked drain pump motor, drain hoses etc...no blockage. Checked pressure switch (off line) it works. Checked for loose connections/wires..did not find any problem.
BTW, One of the diagnostics is for door lock/unlock and it works. Would love to hear from others facing similar problem and how they resolved it.

  • Anonymous Dec 28, 2008

Have a ATF7000ES1.  Will not spin except to wash.  Had the Frigidaire man out to look at it - said it was the control board.  Said he would have the office send a quote to fix.  Never heard from him again.  Didn't get charged for the service call either.  My guess is he saw the machine, the problem and didn't want the headache.  I will try changing the lock.

I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD FRIGIDAIRE FRONT LOADER MODEL LTF2140ES0 WASHER. I PURCHASED THE SERVICE WARRANTY. WHEN YOU HIT THE START BUTTON WATER WILL START TO COME IN FOR ABOUT 3 SECONDS AND THEN IT WILL NOT DO ANYTHING. IT JUST SHUTS OFF. REPAIRMAN HAS BEEN HERE TWICE. 2 BAD DOOR SWITCHES AND 1 BAD CONTROL BOARD. WASHER HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR 4 WEEKS AND THE REPAIR PLACE HAS STILL NOT FIXED IT. ANY SUGGESTIONS.

Frigidaire Gallery front load washer (FWT4496FS) won't do high speed spin. I replaced timer (Frigidaire tech support suggested) and still won't do high spin. Runs fine in all other cycles. Any ideas?

  • randynash Mar 01, 2009

All cycles work on mine except the spin, the water fills up,the drum spins both ways. For all intents and purposes everything is normal but the spin cycle does not spin to drain the clothes. The drain pump does drain the majority of the water though but the clothes are sopping wet
My unit is just over a year and a half though and like others who have posted here no extended warranty

  • dhaugustine Mar 05, 2009

Mine won't agitate or spin!!! We paid $96 dollars for the new door lock but that didn't solve it. Now they are saying get a new washer.... It does fill and drain. We have completely cleaned out the drain assembly all is fine there. Any ideas? Maybe the motor control panel?

  • laundrynazi Mar 14, 2009

My wash maching would not spin out either....I called to have it serviced and they said someone would be out Tuesday (I called Friday)...with two kids and LOTS of laundry my husband and I decided to look on line. We found this website and called the two appliance repair shops for the lock assembly kit. After I described our problem they said the lock assembly wouldn't be what is broken and it must be the motor or the drum. Well, we went on line and had the part overnighted. For the past day and a half I've been doing my laundry at my moms (3 minutes away). Today I went to switch the laundry out and by the time I got home the part had been delivered and my husband had installed it!!! My laundry is spinning out as I write this. Thanks for the tip and for saving us $$$$$ and my sanity as I am a Laundry Nazi.

IT IS THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY, COST AROUND $50.00 WHICH IS FAR BETTER THAN $300.00, WHAT A SERVICE REPAIR PERSON WILL CHARGE YOU. YEA IT'S THE CRAZIEST THING IMAGINABLE, THE DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY BEING THE CAUSE FOR IT TO NOT SPIN ALL THE WATER OUT. I FIXED MINE MYSELF, HAD TO TAKE IT ALL APART VERY CAREFULLY, BUT I SAVED MYSELF $250.00. YOU CAN GET THE PART ONLINE OR GO TO NEAREST APPLIANCE PARTS STORE IN YOUR CITY. ASK FOR DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY. THEY WILL KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE IT IS A VERY COMMON, I REPEAT VERY COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS BRAND OF WASHING MACHINE.

I had the same problem with my Frigidaire affinity (ATF6000ES)
I ran the spin diagnostic test and got the err 47 code which is the door lock. actually its was the ptc it looks like a solenoid plunger which locks the door. I was suppose to get a reading of 1500 ohms or 1.5K ohm but I had no reading (open) Mechanically it worked but without the right resistance going back to the board it would not go into a full spin

I have the same problem with my Frigidaire Affinity. Washed 4 loads of clothes just fine, on 5th one it didn't spin them out. Thanks to the post from puninski here, I called my local parts supplier and bought a new door latch assembly. We just finished replacing it and the machine runs like new. According to the guy at the parts store, this is a pretty common failure, but the replacement part is stronger than the original, so it doesn't fail twice. I am so glad that a $50 part fixed my $4000 washer/dryer set. I couldn't afford to replace them. Thank you for this site.

Out of curiosity any one with the Frigidaire ATF7000ES1 front loader or similar remember what was the solution to the no high speed spin problem? I am having the same problem with mine. It is only 15 months old. What was the age of your washer when it stopped? This could be an important factor... There is a possibility of an component that goes bad around this time. If you don't have an extended warranty call Frigidaire and they will pay for the parts... Stop letting manufactures use cheap components in expensive machines, it cost you, unless you voice your concerns the beatings will continue..

I had the same problem listed above on my LTF2140ES3...the machine did everything but do a final spin. In diagnostics I could do the final spin and the machine kicked out an E43 which is the control board error.

Following the advice here I changed the door latch first and the problem went away and the unit runs as it should.

You'll get "experts" who say that the unit would not spin at all if the door latch was bad. I can tell you first hand that they are wrong. Again the unit did all the normal tumbling but didn't do the high speed final spin. Again, replacing the door latch fixed the problem. The door latch is part number 131763245 (AP3886713)

YES, the door. I read up all I could and told my service tech I thought it was the door. The tech mechanic initially said it couldn't be the door since all the other cycles funtioned normally. After changing both the computer on the panel and inside, he finally realized it was the door.

Once again, if your washer does everything but spin, it is a door lock problem. Note: The door does lock, but does not send the correct signal allowing the washer to spin!!

completely agree; have a Frigidaire GLTF2940 and the same issue happened and the techs said to replace the controller that it could not be the door lock; based on these posts I ignored the "experts" and bought the door lock; installed and now working great! It would be better if at least the "experts" acknowledged that it could be either the door lock OR the system controller.

The problem was the door lock as 'danesrule' also mentioned. It was not the pump or motor control board. The part number is AP3886713 for my washer (Kenmore model 41744152400). It will cost about $40.

Try the "spin only" button to take the water out of your machine. If this does not work, take the pipe from the wall socket and lay it on the floor for the water to spill out. The spin normally does not work when the outlet filter is clogged; if the filter is clean you should then check your pipe coming out from under the tub (plug off the wall first before doing all these things). Last check your outlet pump, could be blocked with something. Refit carefully, you might need a nice pair of pliers to get the grip clip on and off the pipes.

  • Anonymous Nov 28, 2007

The outlet pipe into the wall stand-pipe should be re-fitted at the exact height; from where you pulled it out. Or you will have other problems.

My Frigidaire Gallery Front Load Washing machine goes through the wash cycle fine, filling with water, agitating(turning to wash clothes), but it does not do the fast spin and does not drain the water. I can here the machine clicking through when the spin should occur. Put in a light load, 2 t-shirts and a shirt, same thing. The model # FWT4496F52 Serial # XC00515877. Took the back off and the belt is fine and the barrel turns when manually turned. What can be the problem? Oakley, CA

Door latch lock.
It has 2 sets of switches inside, and the second one has to be made at the correct time..
You should see the concoction I put together to make this thing run so we could wash some clothes this weekend.

There is no doubt in my mind it is almost always the door latch. I had this same issue and I have a sears master protection agreement. Had my sears guy come and look at it and said, "oh yeah, you need a new circuit board...." He said he'll order it and he'll put it in some 2 weeks later. Well, can't wait that long so I came here. Sure enough, went and got a replacement part for the door latch. Maybe took me 3 minutes to replace and its FIXED! Thanks to this site...you save me 2 weeks of headache.

It is your brushes they will tubule but these not enough brush on the brushes to fast spin if you don't get them done quick you will find that the brass bit of the brush holder will touch the armicher and then you will have to buy a new motor so if i was you wight down the model number and go on ebay and get a pair or go to your second hand appliance shop them should have some in stock if not they will get you some there only £9 pound or less cheap but your motor will be about £60-£70 pound up woulds so check them first

You don't always have to replace that switch. Sometimes it just breaks loose and can be tied back in place with a zip tie or wire. You also don't need the entire switch most of the time. The switch is used in everything you can think of practically. Find a old microwave, barbie jeep or vacuum on the road and you'll find plenty of the same switch for free if it does need to be replaced. You can tell if it needs replacing by pushing the red button you'll find on the switch itself. If you hear no click then it needs replacing. On some older top loaders there is a fuse directly behind the switch assembly. Check that fuse first then the switch. Good luck.

Ours would not spin at all. My husband took the drain off underneath the frontloader and found that the backflow rubber flap had broke and was stopping up the drain. We called our repairman and he said it was unneccessary, that half of them did not even have them. It is working fine now. Thanks for the troubleshooting ideas.

It IS definitely the door lock. Just replaced mine without a repair man. Ran a load and 37 minutes later, clothes were properly spun. .... it's not the pump, not the motor, nothing clogged... just the door lock. Part is $65 in my area (vs a $350 trial and error repairman). Thanks to everyone on this site that provided the help.

Frigidaire front loader model # GLTF2940ES3.

Cycle ended prior to spin segment. Checked error code history to find E47 fault. Troubleshot per manual. Found that the "PTC one-spot check" read ~1582ohms. Although the book indicates that this is sufficient and recommends (rather tells) you to replace the control board we were still skeptical seeing as this is a ONE POINT check on a device that is non-linear. We went with the lesser of two evils. Purchased and replaced a new door lock. Works again! Phew, that could have been costly.

SOURCE: Rinse water fills the washing machine when the spin cycle starts

Check your outlet filter, most likely it is blocked, preventing the water from draining out. Chk your pump too. Before this disconnect from the wall socket; and also check the pipe coming from the tub to the filter. Siphon out the excess water from inside the machine before you open the pipes.

Why did my washer quit spinning out in spin cycle

Quite often the problem with spin cycles is that the cycle cannot start until a sufficient amount of wash/rinse water has drained. So what will often happen is that the washer drains, the cycle starts, a lot of water comes out of the clothes, it stops, waits for the water to drain, then restarts. If the drain pump or drain lines are restricted or blocked or the pump is faulty, the unit may never achieve spin cycle.

Washer won t fill water

pipes maybe clear but is your area wher you live prone to limescaling? where the water pipe/pipes go into the machine there is a switch to shut on/off the flow of water during whatever cycle you want.this might be blocked or sticking. first try to select different cycles and see if any of those fills the machine with water. if no water comes its one of two things. that switch is faulty or communication between the switch and the front consule is at fault.
contact your supplier after trying to go thru a few different cycles.

Wash doesn't go through full cycle

I have a Maytag model A490 clothes washer. It works fine up to the rinse cycle and then shuts down. When it reaches this point it has become necessary to manually advance the dial a short ways whereupon it will fill with water and complete the rinse and spin cycles. This happens on both the regular and the permanent press cycles. What needs to be done to fix this problem?

Washer will not Spin during SPIN CYCLES

Check your exit hose spigot, it may be clogged. This is if your filter is all clean. (consult your manual to know where/how filter is cleaned). There should be air for passage in the standpipe behind. Your hose should not fit airtight into the standpipe and neither too deep into it. Snaking out your standpipe would be good too.
