Check ice and water filter: If equipped, the Ice and Water filter in your refrigerator is responsible for removing any debris or contaminants from your water that may still remain after local water treatment. Most filters contain and are made up of carbon and fabric filter. Over time, the filter may become restricted and reduce the water flow to the ice maker, causing a symptom of little or no ice. Most manufacturers recommend replacing the filter every 6 months but local water conditions may require that you replace more frequently. Lastly a clogged drain line can cause a foul smell and get into the ice and water as we,,.
PUT A BOX OF BAKING SODA IN REFRIGE AND 1 INTO FREEZER ALSO. BUT TAKE EVERYTHING OUT, MAKE SURE NOTHING SPILLED AND IS UNDER A DRAW ROTTING. IF ALL IS CLEAN INSIDE, PULL OUT REFRIDGE IN BOTTOM BACK IS AN EVAPORATOR PAN FOR CONDENSATION, SOMETIMES SOMETHING CRAWLS UP INSIDE GETS TRAPPED AND DIES.
YUCKY BUT VERY REAL
It sounds like the ice maker if equiped. Remove Ice bin and clean out,and try a lite spray of bleach or vinegar (don't mix) If the smell is still happening and comming from ice you may want to install a inline filter.
Hello,
It sounds as if you may have had a spillage at some stage in the fridge unit and this has gone onto the tray at the rear of the unit at the bottom on top of the motor. There may be some other explanation when you do pull out the fridge to access this tray.It may be easier to clean the tray in position as they can gat damaged if you try to remove them.If so get some soapy water and a sponge then clean out and dry, also some spray dissinfectant in the tray after cleaning will help.
I had a similar problem with an unbearable smell, not inside, but outside the refregeration compartment. it was from the defrosted liquid that gets stored in a small open tank at the bottom on the rear side of the fridge. over time , particles settle along with water and gives a rooten smell, cleaning this tank solved it.
