How do i fix my ford 302 motor ranchero that backfires

You should be able to find a Websearch for this. In 1978, Ford had an LTD II which seems to be the platform which was converted for the truck version called a Ranchero. The unit had a 302 and a 351 as options but I can not tell you if the 351 was a Cleveland or Windsor design. I believe at some point there was a GT version that may have shown up in the Ranchero. Usually body tape, different wheels, an emblem, and maybe different axle ratio.

Didn't find 97 ranchero in US automotive database. Is this a US vehicle? I looked for wiring diagram? I'd have to check starter motor wiring circuits and make sure engine isn't trying to seize when it gets hot or starter motor.

You don't have the spark plug wires installed in the correct order on the distributor.

Yes it mor than likely is a timing problem

Yah!, sometimes, old spares won't be available. But if you replace with other model of fan motor with blade, but same capacity it will work out.

Have you checked the timing belt?

engine can be out of time
low fuel pressure
or can be a burn valve
need to check ignition timing and fuel pressure to see if they are ok first
