TX NR-616
Either voice coil to the speaker is shorted, or the audio output section circuit to your receiver has shorted component/s at it. Disconnect all the speakers from the set, and check whether it shows any warning error like this. If dhows, the fault is within the receiver itself. If does not show any error message, switch off the set, and connect the speakers; one by one at a time, and try to find out which one is faulty. Be remember to switch OFF the power to the receiver, each time when one speaker box is connected. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Hi there, sounds like you have a ground loop happening there. Check out ground loops in google to get some tips. What you should try is use one wall plug for everything (with an adapter on it) and check that none of your other cables are damaged. try find new cables and put them in place of the old seemingly fine cables.

Also, it could possibly the preout terminal itself that is not working. One way to prove that is by transferring the subwoofer cable from the preout and temporarily transfer it to the tape out section. If it ouputs sound from there, then that means the speaker and the cables are working fine and it's just the preout terminal itself that is not picking up anything. ^_^

Generally, this happens when there's a loose connection somewhere, either internally, or with the connections. It usually happens when the volume's too loud, and it tries to protect itself.
I'd suggest you unplug everything from it, check all the speaker wires, and then try turning it on, without any devices connected to it.
If it works, turn it off, and reconnect devices, one by one. That should fix it.
If not, it's likely that there's a loose solder inside, and it needs to be sent out for service.
