Want to be able to shut ringer off when I go to bed, but dont want to miss any calls. Want any messages to go to answering machine.
You should have a menu and if you scroll thru the options in the menu, select ringer. There you should have options as to the type of ring tone...plus a volume setting. choose volume and using your up/down key press down and the volume will go down. If you want it muted, just hold it till it gets all the way down.
Most Uniden phones have a silent mode which is both activated and subsequently deactivated by holding the '#' button until it switches modes. As long as your answering machine is active and set up correctly, all will be well.
SOURCE: When someone calls me the ringer on the phone does
On the phone not ringing, just push the volume up button while the phone is not in use, that should adjust the ringer volume. As for the message saying that calls are being routed to an automatic message sertvice, that sounds like a voice mail offering from your service provider, not the phone. Uniden phones have a default greeting that says "Hello, no one is availible to take your call, please leave a message after the tone" Contact your service provider and find out if you have voice mail service on your line. If you do and want to use the answering machine on your phone, you will need the service provider to allow for more rings before the voice mail service takes the call.
