I have a Maytag French Door Bottom Freezer / Refrigerator. Model MFI2568AEW. I changed the water filter today and 10 seconds after installing the new filter it started making a very loud noise like a machine gun when I ran the water. I put the old filter back on and it happened again. I finally put the bypass cap on and it stopped. Any suggestions?

Tried shutting off the water at the inlet for the water hose; cleared the air from the line and put a filter in. I opened up the line halfway and it worked for about 1 gallon then the hammering started again. I took the filter back out and installed the relay cap and turned the water on full. No hammering. I'm stumped.

Sounds like water hammer, has the water supply got it's own shut-off valve behind the fridge or in the basement ? Try shutting the valve then open it just a little. Perhaps the water supply was opened fully after installing the new filter.

Testimonial: "I shut off the water at the fridge water hose and let it sit for 10 minutes while i drained the air out of it. I installed a filter and turned on the water 50%. It worked fine for about one gallon and then the noise started again. I took the filter out, replaced the cap and turned the water up to 100%. No noise - but no filter either. I'm stumped."

SOURCE: my Maytag refrig. water dispenser & ice maker has ceased to work

there is a "control lockout" feature on the newer dispensors, ( not controlled by you(there is a control lockout feature)but I dont thinkn this is your issue.. the control lockout has somehow sensed a flood of water and for safety reasons has shut off the dispensor, the only way to reset this is to reset the control module, . You can either call for an autorized servicer to come reset, or if you feel up to it there sould be a trouble shooting/tech sheet taped to the underneath of unit, in the front right corner(behind hte kickplate)..

SOURCE: Just replaced our water filter on our french door, bottom freezer maytag a few weeks ago. It just started making this really loud noise everytime we get water or it is making ice. Any suggestions?

Did you bleed the air out of lines. You can do this by running about a half gallon through the dispenser

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today.Did you try replacing the water filter? It sounds like a bad filter or low water pressure to the unit.

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. The only thing that can cause slow water is low water pressure from the house line a bad filter or a frozen water line or tank. Most of the time its the house water supply it should be at least 35psi.

Filter needs changing

You don't need a plumber. The filter is located inside the fresh food section, in top-right corner. There is an elongated cover with a tab in front. Press the tab towards the back of the fridge slightly and pull the cover front down. There is your filter. No need to turn the water off either. Just twist the filter counterclockwise and it will pop off.

The part number of the filter is UKF8001, can be purchased in any appliance parts store, for example here. "New10"coupon takes 10% off.

Water filter compartment leaking

If you have already replaced the filter and you can see the housing is still leaking, You have to replace the housing and water tank as an assembly (12956202). Make sure you verify it's the filter housing leaking, and not a fitting at the water valve which is right behind the plastic cover around and below the filter housing.

Maytag MFI2568AEW

the filter for this unit is located in teh upper right hand corner of the refrig ceiling. there is a thumb latch on the cover release teh cover and you will expose the filter. turn the filter 1/4 turn counter clockwise to release. then reinstall new filter. be sure to run approx. 1/2 gallon of water thru the dispenser after replacing filter to purge air from the lines.
p.s the icemaker and water disp will not work without the filter in place. Have a Great Day! peyton
