Faucet will not swivel

Faucet will not swivel from one sink to the other...too tight

  • Hannah Schroeder
    Hannah Schroeder Nov 27, 2017

I'm sorry that your faucet it too tight to swivel from one sink to the other. Mine swivels just fine, but when it does, the bolt becomes unscrewed and the whole thing can fall off sometimes. It makes it hard to wash dishes. Maybe we should both call plumbers to solve our problems. http://www.scottplumbingservices.com.au/

If your faucet is new....the spout was put together wrong and it needs to be removed and re-attached correctly...(friction washer/ring in wrong position).....if not new....spray some penetrating oil on the connection that is supposed to swivel....make sure the surface is dry and try to avoid overspray. let it sit for 15 min...then spray it again...and again let it sit ....after sitting for a few minutes.....gently try to move the spout side to side...if no change...repeat the first processs...and continue to repeat until it becomes moveable....once moveable....detach the spout.....dry out and remove any foreign matter from the connection side on the faucet...then apply a small amount of faucet grease to the connection threads and the inside barrel....a thin even coat ...excess grease will clog your aerator...don't use too much....now repeat the cleaning and lubricating process on the removed spout connector....reassemble.....remove aerator....turn on the water and flush....replace the aerator....turn water on full blast....check for leaks and for swing...it should swivel now ....if not...loosen the connection nut a tad and try again....if still no swing....you are missing a friction ring somewhere in the connection and it needs to be replaced before you will be able to swing the spout.....good luck...

Personally, I would carefully remove the cap that holds the spout in place, then the spout can be removed. Lube the O rings with Vaseline and reassemble.

I have a moen bathroom double faucet and the hot water side is loose, how can it be tightened?

If by double you mean separated levers, there will be a nut and gasket/washer that needs to be tightened from under sink. Can be tricky as getting to underside of that area of sink is usually a tight area, and the nuts are good size. Most hardware stores will have a faucet nut wrench which has a swivel head for on and off and is designed to reach that area vertically. You might be lucky and have plastic nuts with wings that will allow you to tighten by hand. Word of advise, that area and related hardware can play havoc on the knuckles.

Should a faucet spout be right over the drain in a kitchen sink?

There is no reason to do that. Some sinks have two sides so getting water to both sides would be better served if a swivel water faucet was installed.

Water Ridge kitchen faucet model FP4A4107NP does not swivel between sinks. I thought they all could be directed into either side of a double sink?

Did you install the faucet without using the top mounting plate? This could cause no spout swivel.

Flip over bathroom plug in bath stuck & bath full :/

follow this steps and fix it. God bless you
  1. Remove the shower head from the pipe.
  2. Clean the arm threads and wrap them with plumbers' joint tape.
  3. Screw the head back on and hand-tighten it. Remove any excess compound or tape.
  4. Test and retighten as needed.
Repair a shower head that leaks at the swivel:
  1. Unscrew the shower-head body from the swivel-ball ring.
  2. Find the O-ring or a similar seal inside. Replace it and screw the shower head back into place.
  3. Turn off the water supply and open the faucet handle to relieve water pressure.
  4. Carefully loosen the coupling nuts at the shutoff valves and at the base of the faucet.
  5. Carefully remove the supply tubes.
  6. Remove the locknuts that hold the faucet to the sink and lift the faucet out.
  7. Clean the area where the old faucet sat.
  8. As needed, install the new spray hose and supply tubes, if any, through their holes in the sink.
  9. Set the rubber gasket that came with the faucet on the sink where it will be mounted. If no gasket is supplied, apply plumber's putty.
  10. Set the faucet into position and center it.
  11. From under the sink, attach the faucet locknuts to hold it to the sink.
  12. Reinstall the supply lines, then turn them on and test the faucet. Turn it on carefully because the line and faucet have air in them.

We purchased a 16927 Series SSSD 5 years ago. the faucet doesn't swivel on the base, so the nut securing the faucet to the sink continues to loosen under the sink. I've tried lubrication, I've...

There is a possibility of corrosion between swivel and base. Remove faucet and take to a work table and try and twist swivel spout off. I t may be tight, but the unit is not satisfactory and may need replacement. I have repaired such faucets before and many have been cheaper to replace. There a o rings between spout and body if you get it apart check mating surfaces any erosion discard unit. If OK replace o rings and use silicon grease. No petroleum products as this will cause o rings to swell. Good Luck

Delta swivel faucet won't swivel. I can barely get it to move left to right.

Take handle off it has set screw that holds it on top of faucet after handle is off it has a locking collar they may have it to tight you can get a little wrench from hardware store that turns it. most are plastic so be careful if you try to move it you may try a little at a time to see if it free's up.

How do I remove delta 470 kitchen faucet? It won't swivel

If the 470 is typical, there should be two large nylon nuts on the bottom of the faucet tubes that hold the faucet to the sink. First, turn the water off, then open the faucet to drain any pressure. Next, disconnect the feed lines (hot and cold) that connect to the faucet from under the sink (be prepared for some water back flow, so paper towels would be a good idea). After the feed lines are disconnected, you should be able to reach up (usually behind the back of the sink basin) and access the two large nylon nuts (one on the cold and one on the hot). These nuts typically have raised portions so that you can get a grip on them. If you are lucky, you will be able to turn them (lefty loosey, righty tighty) by hand. If not you may have to work for some time with various pliers or other tools getting them to turn. Once you have them off, the faucet will simply lift up from the sink. Installation of another faucet should simply be the reverse procedure.
Good luck.
