Indesit washer/dryer too much water enters the wash machine when starting

Can't promise it isn't the motor, but there are other suspects (maybe more likely, and probably cheaper to fix). Few questions: 1. Do you have a RCCB (also called an RCD, Residual Current Device, Current Operated Earth Leakage Trip etc.) protecting your ring mains? (How to look for one: If your wiring is less than fifteen or so years old, it might be built into the main switch on your fuse box, if a little bit older, you want to look for a separate box - usually grey, about the shape and size of an After-Eights box, with a big switch and a test button on). 2. What stage of the cycle does this happen at? 3. If it always happens during the "wash" phase, can you make it happen at all if you run a series of cold wash cycles? (don't need to have laundry or detergent in the machine to test this). A.

i am a recently retired engineer of 20 years, but this sounds like (based on the info given) a heater element fault, after the machine fills up and agitates a few times the heater should start, check the heater for open circuit, replace if needed, of course it just could be a wire off? if i have helped rate me please

Hi there. I have an old model, the indesit WM12. Never counted the flashing light (yours was 10) but my dial started clicking constantly at the drain part. I called Idesit and they told me it was a blockage in the filter.
The filter they speak of it located, on mine, at the front of the machine at the very bottom on the right. It is a black dial about 3 - 4 inches in diameter. Unscrew that anti-clockwise (a real pain because so much water comes out. My wife and I unscrewed it, filled a baking tray with water, screwed it back up, emptied / substituted tray then same all over again - until empty. Though putting it on drain again and again helped at same time). When I pulled out the filter found a 'colour catcher' sheet in it. We used them first time ever the other day. Removed that, gave filter a wee clean and, hey presto, all is working again. Hope that helps. Jim

Try lifting the drain outlet higher than it is, if it is too low the water will syphon out as it is filling, there by causing the problem you are experiencing, if that does not solve the prob, then it sounds like the pump is on all the time, this being the case, then it would appear that it has a faulty programmer.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
