Induced fan motors on older units are wired through the high limit safety on the stack - in series. When the furnace calls for heat, the induced fan motor comes on and after a time the furnace will light.

Older units have a temp switch in the stack that rotates to bring on the burners and blower motor. . When there is a call for heat, the induced draft fan motor comes on and then the burners will light.

After the heat exchanger is warmed up the limit switch will bring the blower motor on. That's basically how it works - there are two circuits - one for the induced draft motor and the burners and the other for the blower and high limit.

New units have a plug on the board you just plug in.

SOURCE: model m1mc 090a bw furnace pressure switch open.

did you check the hose from the inducer to the pressure switch? HAVE you unplugged the unit from the wall outlet to reset the board? DO you have a voltmeter? If you do you can run voltage across the switch and if you get 24 volts you are open.

My Honeywell smartvalve stop opening the gas valve, inducer motor started, glow and pilot happen, just no fire...I replaced said smartvalve and upon installation, the inducer motor wouldnt run, no glo

Double check the wiring connections, maybe you have the pilot valve and the main valve wiring reversed. I had a call one time where the homeowner installed the gas valve backwards, so no flow and of course and the wiring on the three terminals was reversed.

The inducer should start whether or not the gas valve is wired wrong, unless it is wired in parallel with the pilot valve.

Changed inducer motor, now furnace will not ignite and gives code 31

since there is no model number to go by, let's go generic. Most inducer motors have some way of "proving" it is running to the control board. It may have a centrifugal switch in it or it may have use some type of air pressure switch. The centrifugal switch will usually have 2 wires other than the power wires and most of the time, go to the rear of the motor. The air switch usually has a small rubber hose that pushes onto it and is connected to the fan housing.

Fedders gas furnace exhaust fan comes on but will not ignite

The induced draft motor you describe has a pressure switch proves the induced draft motor is running, it is about 4 inches across and silver and flat and round, it has 2 wires and a tube that atttaches to the induced draft assembly onto a barbed port, this barbed port will obstruct with carbon and needs to be cleared annually with a tiny dril bit or similar device.

Janitrol furnace, Model # GMT090-3, built in February of '02. The induced draft motor runs for a half second, then quits. Indicator light blinks rapidly and continuously, indicating 'incorrect twinning'...

I ran into a simalar problem and it was a short in the control wiring of the furnace. When there is a call for heat a relay closes to start the inducer the movement of air causes by the inducer closes the air pressure switch. This is where the problem starts.some where in the control wiring there is a dead short this causes the secondary (24volts ) to drop causing the inducer relay to open shutiing off the inducer which in turn opens the pressure switch removing the short and the cycle starts over again. The culprit in my case was the high limit switch which was shorting against the metal furnace housing. You can easily ccheck this by removing the two wires from the fan limit switch and powering up the unit to see if the inducer runs normally . If it does remove limit and replace if necessary.
hope this helps

A couple of weeks ago my Goodman furnace went out. It happened to be a big snow storm here in Chicago. So I called my furnance repair co. that i usually use. They charged me $189.00 to come out to check...

Hi,
If the inducer fan is out of balance that badly, then you will need to replace the inducer anyway....it will shake its self apart....
Me I would have fixed the wire and then ordered a new inducer right a way and then installed it in a few days when it arrived...in is trouble waiting to happen...
Put the wire back on and get a new inducer coming...

I hve a Rheem 1X2000 and the little fan behind the brown plastic cover on the inducer fan is making a grinding noise. How do I rplace the assembly?

Have the model # off the inducer motor and furnace ready go to this website http://www.electricmotorwarehouse.com/fasco/rheem_draft_inducer.htm find what motor is yours .replacing will be quite easy the bolts, hose and wiring will all be exact. Then unscrew the vent pipe from the inducer remove the nuts holding it to the furnace unplug the electrical connection a little rubber hose and you're ready to remove the old one. All the directions you need to install the new one will come with it.

Hope this helps.....

Need to know were purple brown and yellow wire off cumbustion motor hook back up to compasetor and circuit board on a carrier 48gs 03609 0301

take off the door panel and look to the inside. It will have a wiring diagram, legend, and color codes for the wires. The combustion motor or inducer fan should be small enough that it doesnt need a capacitor. The indoor fan motor or squirrel cage does.

Your induce fan motor is burnt out or the senor is out. If the little fan is working its just the senor. Your going to need a repairman to find the senor or motor for you. You can replace the senor but I wouldnt recommend replacing the motor. www.fastacservice.com
