My fridge has decided that the light in the top portion is going to stay on all the time. It got so hot that the light cover melted. I've taken out the light bulbs and everything else works fine. The door switches seem to work, and the control panel goes off and on when you push the door buttons; just the light stays on. It's ok; just dark in there all the time. Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Heck you door alignment to be sure when the door closes it is hitting th lite switch and turning the lights off. sometimes it is necessary to put shims on the door hinges to raise the door to cause it to hit the switch properly.

I now have the same problem: I HAVE AN LG FRIDGE MODEL LRFC22750. THE LIGHT COVER INSIDE THE FRIDGE MELTED DUE TO THE LIGHTS STAYING ON WHEN THE DOORS CLOSE. THERE ARE BUTTONS ON THE INSIDE UPPER DOOR...

LG has issued a service bulletin about this problem. You need to call LG or the ratailer you bought it from and tell them what's going on...the entire cost of the repair (parts and labor) should be covered....at least it was the last time I did one for a customer.

Unit runs, freezer icy cold, fridge warm no cold air at all!!! help

t probably needs a defroster timer. You can take it apart and clean the contacts with some sand paper to fix the old one. It's located just behind the light bulb2_bing.gif. You will have to lower the cover for the light to get to it. Defrost the top freezer2_bing.gif by leaving it off for a period of time or take the shelves out and blowing hot air into the rear vents until ice melts. Then reinstall timer and plug back in. Get the whole model number and go to appliancepartspro.com to get a diagram. I fixed mine in less than an hour. frt18il6dw

Inside lights do not go off when doors are closed

Good day,
All refrigerators have light switches, that depress and shut off the lights when the doors are closed.
First, make sure the bulbs are left out. I would replace all of the light switches because of the newness of the machine.
They are easy enough to replace, and you can purchase them at any appliance parts house or a Sears service facility.
They pry out, and may be destroyed on removal. Unplug the machine.
After connecting the wires, the new ones just push in.
To test, close the doors slowly. The lights should go out just before the door closes.

Some states have what is called "Implied warranty of serviceablity". Which means what should a consumer reasonably expect irregardless of the warranty limits.
You might want to contact Sears and express your opinions regarding this matter, and if they'll consider making you whole.
The above paragraph are my thoughts only. They in no way reflect the law, Sears policy or liability or this site's policy.

My fridge has water leaking from the freezer. It

Unplug the power to the Fridge, take the items out of the freezer. There is a bottom tray that's inside the freezer that has 2 or 4 screws, remove the screws that holds the floor to the freezer and lift it out. You will probably see a sheet of ice on the bottom of the freezer. You may have to take off the back cover which is inside the freezer, it covers the evaporator. Then you will want to defrost the ice, do not use a heat gun it will melt the inside of the freezer. Best way to thaw it is leave the power off and melt it with hot water (not boiling). Either wet vac out the water as it melts or use a hand towel to mop it up. Sometimes a turkey baster will work to squeegee it out. There is a drain hole in the back that you will see as the ice begins to melt. That needs to be clear and the only way to clear it is to cover it with hot water. You will know that it clears and working when you see the water drain out thru the drain hole in the back of the inside of the freezer. By the way the drain drains thru a pipe thru a tray that's on top of your compressor. That's what heats it and makes it evaporate. Be advised that as you see that it is clearing, you can stop dumping water down there as some may get on the floor as the pan may overflow and dump water on the floor. If that happens, just mop up the water from the floor. Now put it back together again and plug it back in and you should have no further problems.

LG Design defect - Light stayed on and melted the fridge.

yes, contact LG for this known problem. it's a circuit board defect. the tech should replace both bulbs w/lower wattage, plastic bulb lens, lens surround and bulb sockets themselves. be sure to have your fridge model # and serial # handy.
