Fan in freezer only turns off when I turn freezer temp switch to zero. Which turns everything off. Regardless of refridgerator temp switch. I can put temp on 1 or 9 and fan in freezer never turns off. I took cover off of refrigerator damper and put temp probe right beside the damper door. After a few minutes the fan turned off and damper door closed. Is that temp probe the problem?

You may have a double problem. One, you state that the damper stays shut. if the box is running 50 degrees, it should be wide open, My question is, do you think because that there is no air from the damper that it is closed? The usual problem on these units is that it is not defrosting and the evap coil gets blocked with ice. This will cause an air flow problem to the ref side, although the freezer seems to work. The most likely cause is a bad defrost heater. If not, then possible a bad damper if it is not opening.

Hi, fan may have stuck, but you could have a defrost problem, check defrost heater, thermodisc(defrost thermostat) and defrost timer. or excessive moisture, if your days are hot, or if you put hot foods in ref. could result in excessive ice build up. you can manually defrost it, by unpluging ref. for couple of hrs, until all ice melted. then restart. you make get excessive water on floor. be prepared.

We had the same problem with the damper assembly. The gap between the fridge and the freezer, where the new assembly was installed was not sealing properly. We added an additional gasket (which actually came with the assembly but we were instructed that we would not need it with our model) and it works perfectly. The seal is very tight and the freezer and fridge are now chilling accurately.

I see this happen a lot on these models. The defrost control board is part of four operations. If you changed the Defrost control board then one of the two thermostats is not responding to changes in temperature settings. For freezer if turning the thermostat warmer should cause the compressor not to run as much and open the damper and regulate. If the only place the thermostat setting is placed to off and it responds only to off I would believe that thermostat is the reason. I believe you are on the right track to repair but if you have a look at the wiring diagram you see the connection and point I'm trying to make here. Let me place the diagram and send you a link shortly, Thanks, Sea Breeze
