Hi,
You need a converter which converts the micro usb to HDMI. Just like on in the picture. Try to buy one which would support your phone. You can use any of the HDMI port. The tv Will only accept the play back if its support the format form you your phone. There is no other settings for HDMI.
The KDF-42WE655 does not have a USB port. The current Roku sticks plug into the HDMI port on the TV. You will need to use the power adapter that came with the unit. Plug the USB cord (mini or micro USB) into the back (or side) of the Roku Stick and then plug the power adapter into a nearby power outlet. (It's a 5V 1A DC power adapter.) Roku sells this adapter separately on their Accessories page: https://www.roku.com/accessories . It's ~$10. If you have mounted your TV such that the power outlet is hidden behind the TV, you'll get to the outlet or use another nearby outlet. (Make sure to avoid a tripping hazard if you use an extension cord or power strip to increase the number of available outlets.)
1. If your TV has a USB port, connect the phone to that port using the Micro USB cable that came with the phone.
2. Get a Micro USB-to-HDMI cable and connect your phone to an HDMI port on your TV using that cable.
The question is: what are you trying to accomplish ?
Vizio doesn't support phone connect - only USB drive (ie thumbdrive type) - With correct USB, TV will show USB as a 'Source' - and if selected will show the files on the USB, but can only open / view folders, images, and video types.
The problem very well could be that it isn't connected fully (maybe not fully plugged in). or that the USB port on your laptop is dysfunctional. The charger could even be malfunctioned. Try to charge in another USB (as not all are powerful enough to do so). If that doesn't work, you could buy a new usb cord to try that, and then if that doesn't work you may just want to stick to using the wall charger.
Your iPhone should have come with a usb cord. First does your computer have a usb port? If not you will not be able to connect your phone to the computer. If you do have a usb port, plug in the smaller side of the cord and the larger end plugs into the phone. It is a plug and play and should automatically start adding a driver.
insert the disc that comes with the phone and run it. this should install all necessary drivers for you but if you dont have it, you can go online and search for the drivers.
first check the usb cord if ok,if ok check the usb port on the phone if ok also if not ok replace but if the usb cord is not ok also replace and thats all that's my solution
