How do i get my pin number to get out of child mode or reset my pin number

This is the definitive answer from Panasonic Customer Services. It worked for me.

In response to your enquiry, I am writing to inform you that you can reset the PIN number to the default 0000 and then change it, based on your preference. In order to reset the PIN, please follow the next steps:
1. Switch ON the unit;
2. Press and hold the OK, YELLOW and BLUE buttons, at the same time, until you see 00 RET displayed on the unit;
3. Press, repeatedly, the RIGHT ARROW buton until you see 03 VL;
4. Press OK and you should see "INIT" displayed on the unit.
This will reset the PIN number to the 0000 factory preset.
Furthermore, you should also be able to remove the message that is asking you for the child lock PIN while attempting to play back a recording. In order to do this, please follow the next steps:
1. Press SETUP;
2. Choose HDD/USB HDD;
3. Select CHILD LOCK FOR PLAYBACK;
4. Input the default 0000 code;
5. Switch it to OFF.
After performing these steps, the recorder should no longer ask you for the PIN when trying to playback a recording.

Factory reset on many Panasonics is to hold down Channel Up and Channel Down buttons at the same time, for over 5 seconds.

That should clear any PIN entries as well as resetting everything else.

How do you change/reset the pin code of Child Lock/Parental Control settings?

1. In disc mode, press SYSTEM MENU.
   
2. Press to select Preference.
   
3. Press OK to confirm.
   
4. Press to highlight PASSWORD, then press to select CHANGE.
   
5. Use the numeric keypad (0-9) to enter your old six-digit password.
   • When doing this for the first time, key in 136900.
     
   • If you forget your old six-digit password, key in 136900.
   
   
6. Enter the new six-digit password.
   
7. Enter the new six-digit password a second time to confirm. The new six-digit password will now take effect.
   
8. Press OK to confirm.

OK in these manuals above you should find, all the information, to reset any codes, the child lock, is most likely on, you need to disable it.
With the TV turned on, simultaneously press VOLUME down button on the front of the TV set and the number 7 button on the remote control to reset pin code and customer ID.
If that above doesn't work, try below.

CHILDLOCK Press ANY NUMB 3 TIMES, THEN PRESS VOL- ON SET & "7" ON R/C FOR 5 SECS this should disable it.

Type in the code 1234 ENTER then enter your child's new pin.

my viera tx-l37g20b tv locked me out of things id recorded on my harddrive i.e. eastenders of all things i managed to unlock it with 1111 after several attempts it seems you cant actually turn it off but you unset each channel but i never set it in first place and it had worked ok till then!
