Sanyo sr-4910M compact refrigerator is freezing on the back and proper temp on bottom. Freezing beverages in the middle

Adjusted dial two or three times a week ; back isn't frozen solid; just frosty. Having hard time controlling temp. We can increase temp; back will thaw and be normal for couple days and then too warm --- vicious cycle

SOURCE: Sanyo SR-4912M 4.9 cu ft refrig temp problems

Greetings macx,

The average refrigerator temperature is between 35 & 38 degrees. The maximum temperature a refrigerator can be before bacteria begins to grow is 39 degrees. It would be my recommendation to exchange this unit if you can at your local retailer. If this was purchased at Best Buy, you have a 30 day return/exchange policy on this item with no restocking fee.

Thank you,

Agent Dort

SOURCE: freezing at any tempeture

I ordered a new thermostat (about $40 with shipping) & installed it. It's pretty easy to replace. The fridge has been working fine since.

SOURCE: Sanyo 4.9cu.ft. compact refrigerator heats rather than cools

I'd already picked up a replacement (B&D 2.7cf) before I found the website and asked the question,,,, hoped for a quick fix answer and I'd be able to return the B&D.... oh well. With 'designed' obsolescence and 'disposable' appliances, Robert L's answer confirmed my 'fears'.
Now I'm trying to find someone locally (Conroe, TX) who would like to 'recycle' the Sanyo (everything but the compressor/motor is in great shape - door, glass shelves, etc. maybe even the coolant which I don't want to 'dump' in a landfill.

WATER SPLASHING IN FREEZER AT ICEMAKER
THE FILL TUBE IN BACK OF REFRIGERATOR CAN SLIP
AGAINST THE FILL RESERVOIR CAUSING A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE
OR BECOME CLOGGED WITH ICE.
REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK
TEMP IN FREEZER. IF TEMP IS BELOW 0 DEGREES, THATS
OVERKILL AND USUALLY A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY TO KEEP IT THAT COLD, NOT TO MENTION THE FILL TUBE FREEZING UP

Items freezing in refrigerator

You can turn the temperature down by adjusting the temperature dial located within the refrigerator.

The refrigerator either does not keep things cold or with a minor adjustment it freezes everything.

Most likeley there is ice buildup in the venting between fridge and freezer. Then when you try and adjust the control it either goes way too far one way or the other.

Ice buildup, not cooling well

The ice build up on the cooling coils prevents you fridge from cooling properly. You need to unplug it and allow the ice to melt. When the coils are free of ice, the fridge should work better. Hope this helps you.

My fridge stays on and freezes everything inside

not a breathing room issue, if anything that would cause it to shut down and not cool at all, where you got just the opposite, it never shuts off. is it an electronic model, or is there a control knob you manullay turn to adjust temp
