Hi
open the printer lid (with power on) and wait for the cartridges to move into 'change position'. Then remove/replace cartridge(s) and close the lid.

SOURCE: HP 7410

I just spent over 1 hour with online support. My printer hp 7410 message says replace black ink cartridge. The message appeared when I replaced the black ink cartridge with a new one. The printer is useless while the error message is present. Support diagnosed it to be hardware problem and need to replace printer. Problem was this happened 14 days after 1yr warranty expired! The diagnostics report said that there was an open/short on Right cartridge. After closer inspection I noticed that the black ink cartridge punctured the plastic contact tape on the back! THIS IS CLEARLY A BAD DESIGN . Be very gentle when replacing the black ink cartridge. Solution is replace the broken part.

HP made me "upgrade" to an L7780 refurbished printer for $349. Guess I got the wrong tech support.

SOURCE: Printer does not recognize color cartridge for my HP OfficeJet 7410

Are you sure it's a genuine HP cartridge? Sometimes remanufactured cartridges aren't recognized by the printers. HP and others make them so that they have a chip inside that ensures only new genuine cartridges can be used. Try a new HP and see if that solves the problem. If you've already tried that one, then make sure the contacts in the printer are clean. If you still have a problem, then I'd say try a new printer!

SOURCE: My HP Officejet 7410 xi is showing an error

Apparently, there is a known problem with this printer series (7310 / 7410). When you replace the cartridge, there is a metal wire that keeps the cartridge in place. This wire comes away from the wall as you slide the cartridge in and makes a hole in the ribbon cable.

Unfortunately, there is not much that you can do, other than to contact HP. Hopefully, your printer is still under warranty.

The HP 99 cartridge is used if you would like to print photos. The HP 99 replaces the HP 96 (black) cartridge in your printer. The HP 99 cartridge has black, photo magenta, and photo cyan inks in it. When you pair this with the cyan, magenta, and yellow in your HP 97 (color) cartridge you have the full set of photo colors represented.

My HP Officejet 7410 xi is showing an error message that states "Remove and check color cartridge". I have tried replacing the old cartridge with two separate new ones and I still get the error message.

Can this machine COPY from the Black Cartridge only.

Click Start - All programs - HP - HP Director/Solution center.
In HP Director/Solution center. Click Settings - print settings - printer settings . Click on the Colors tab. Enable the option Print in grayscale and Black print cartridge only.

This is the only way to print with single black cartridge.

Thanks

Try taping it. HP will not sell parts for that model. They are pretty stingy with inkjet/officejet parts. You can try HP.com and check for an exchange deal.
