A blower motor that only works on certain speed settings could be the result of a faulty fan speed switch or blower motor resistor. If only one single speed works (usually HIGH), chances are the problem is a faulty resistor. Blower motor resistors can vary greatly in price depending on if the A/C system is Automatic or Manual. For example, an automatic A/C resistor costs around $175 while a manual A/C resistor only costs about $25. These two parts are not interchangeable; the correct resistor must be used for the type of system that's being repaired. Thankfully changing a resistor isn't too big of a job. The process starts by removing the right "close out panel" which is the cover under the dash near the glove box. The cover is only held in by retainer clips so no tools are necessary; just pull and remove. Next, disconnect the blower motor resistor connector and inspect for a melted condition. If damage of this nature is seen, a blower motor resistor pigtail will need to be installed as well. Finally, remove two screws from the resistor and the part will come loose from the HVAC box. It should look like this. When the belt is off, it is a good opportunity the check that all the components on the belt route turn okay and they is no play in bearings, apart from Crankshaft.
Squealing is caused by the belt slipping or a pulley not turning properly. Does the alternator spin feely as charging seems like it might be an issue here. For belt slippage you can spray with a belt conditioner which helps grip.
How hot does the engine get in degrees F? Does the radiator fan work? You may need to check coolant flow through the radiator and heater code? With a warmed up engine, are the heater hoses hot? If the blower motor works ok, just not warm, check temp actuator, probably under the dash.

Sounds like your blend door is broken/stuck. Or your blend door actuator is broken/stuck. As for doing it yourself, I wouldn't recommend it unless you've done it before. On most vehicles the dash has to come out. I recommend having a dealer/shop take a look at it to determine the actual problem.
